Re: More 2.8 Problems
sounds like my 2.8 wanting to sputter..got a cure for mine though..its coming out tomorrow..makes you want to blow the engine up..no telling how much i have put in the motor and still acts up..make sure the head gasket isn't leaking...and if it isnt check the exhaust manifold,,and double check all vac lines to throttle body..

Re: More 2.8 Problems

double and triple check. thats my bet your problem is. i changed the wires the other day and got the wires mixed up. its easy to do. just label your wires so it easier. GL

Re: More 2.8 Problems
Well, if you set the timing right, my guess would be a bad valve adjustment, but you would need to get a compression gauge to confirm this. Should be around 140-160 PSI, IIRC (been a while since I had my 2.8, you know). Either way, you should check your valve adjustment to make sure you aren't floating any valves. Does the engine make a sort of high-pitched whine when turning over (actually, the sound is kind of hard to describe, but once you've heard it you will ALWAYS know what it is)? That's due to lost compression.

Re: More 2.8 Problems
are the valves over tightend and letting gasses getting by instead of compressing in the combustion chamber? also check the lower intake/upper intake gaskets. a leak there will be a huge vaccum leak and cause the engine to run rough.
