2.8l hp pullys.

has anyone got the high performance pullys off summit? Or anywhere. It comes with the cam pully and the alternator pully. But I can't remove either one. Can anyone give me step by step instructions for removal?

For the cam? The whole thing spins when I try to take off the main bolt.

Cam pulley = timing chain sprocket.

Under drive crank pulley? You'll need to use the above mentioned puller. There are free rentals from Autozone, O'reillys and such.

Re: 2.8l hp pullys.

I'm guessing he means crank pulley, not cam pulley, which I guess would be the sprocket on the timing chain. Use an impact gun that'll buzz it right off of there. We actually have enough space under the hood to fit an impact and deep socket, unlike V8's

Re: 2.8l hp pullys.

Yeah, that's the crank pulley. Just use an impact to ge the middle bolt lose, the other 4 should come off with just a wrench. I just replaced mine this week.

I would advise against you installing the alternator pulley though. Most people who do have charging problems I think. Mine charges good even at idle with just the crank pulley, but starts to drain with the fan turned up and the lights on. With the alt pulley too I imagine the car drains the battery most of the time..

Shoot, confused myself. Is it the one I pointed to in the pic? The crank pully?

yes the one you poinyed to is the crank pulley, and the one you should remove to put the new pulley on.

Re: 2.8l hp pullys.

They turn your serp. belt slower so less power is used on accessories and more power can go to the wheels.

Re: 2.8l hp pullys.

your explanation make sense, but don't alternators require a certain speed to work properly.. and also wouldn't less coolant be flowing? Dumb questions but there is always something to learn lol

well never mind the alternator.. there is a different pulley included in the kit..
