Re: My 3.4 t3/t4 Turbo Build
yeah the tune looks pretty good besdiies some tweaking to get the afrs under boost dead on.right now above 5 psi its just a bit rich. and a few crusie areas are a tad rich and a few spots are a lil lean. im pretty sure i set base at 10 and if u unhook the relay from the dizzy it should read 10. but thats not what needs to be verified.need to verify that what i specify in the advance table is what the actual advance is. in that setup table i set all the timing cells to 12* so no matter what rpm or map sensor reading the motor is at the timming should basically be locked to 12* with that map. that was the simplest way i could figure out to have u verify that the timming is right as we never had a chance to check it after we got the car running decent. i only had the one shot to verify it while cranking the motor. so we need to be sure that that number is on. the buffer box is great i need to get u a diagram so u can also hook a vss input to the megasquirt once u do that this will open up speed based variable boost control, traction control and a ton of oher features u can implement down the road.not to mention having a speed reading in the data logs helps out a great deal when it comes to tunning . the vss input to the ms is only one wire so its real easy to do i just need to look threw the manual and find out what pin it connects to ive been trying to see if i can find u other clutch options but havent turned anthing else up other then the ebay clutch and the spec options as far as breaking other parts i may have a cheaper alternative to the tko600 for you the speedway motors trans adapter that mars is using will alow u to use any v8 manual trans, the adapter is 60 bucks and if u can come up with a used t56 u could save money over the tko600 even with the few upgrades done to the t56 as far as the drive shaft just keep using stock steel shafts we used to build chromoly 3 inch shafts for the 3rd and 4th gens while the shafts themselves are indestructable unless u spend big big bucks on custom billet yokes for the trans and rear u are stuck using the smaller u joints which now become the weak link. and well the rear its a gamble mine has a spool in it and i run slicks alot, not to mention countless passes down the track with 1.7 60 ft times on slicks and its still going strong.orroc has his twin turbo car into the 9's on a stock 10 bolt now for a while and his still lives, while other ppl make one pass and shatter the dam things with mostly stock motors go figure

Re: My 3.4 t3/t4 Turbo Build
well a few updates...
finally wired up some reverse lights, i havent had any since the 5speed conversion over 5 years ago
gauges work great, finished those last night as well, the buffer box worked as it was supposed to.(kev if you read this will you post the pic that shows how to wire it)
Dave... how was the speedo suppose to hook to the megasquirt i totally forgot about that ill have to pull it back down and hook it up.

Re: My 3.4 t3/t4 Turbo Build
thanks guys
just trying to make sure every possible bit of information you might need is on this thread to avoid searching through others
been doing some cleaning up today and adding much needed PS pump fluid, just happened to see an old part i used to have on the car and thought i would clean it up and toss it back on the car. a little extra support couldnt hurt right
i have to go get some bolts but ill post a pic of it on the car when i get home. was trying to decide if i should leave it black or make it aluminum as i still do have some powder left from the motor.

Re: My 3.4 t3/t4 Turbo Build
looking good steve
ill get u the wiring diagrams for the vss input for the ms unit sometime tonight for you. though i cant recall if the vss input is in the harness for the ms or if u have to open the case and solder the input to the pin on the board like i did for the launch control
but ill let u know later ,anywich way i know it was just one wire hookup and a change in the msq to enable the vss input and set the pulse count

Re: My 3.4 t3/t4 Turbo Build
yeah it would've been helpful if it would've came with wiring, but for 12 bucks i couldn't pass it up.
i just got back from cruising around and its soooo nice to have a speedo, the strut tower brace sure did help a lot. it quieted down a lot of my front end noise as well and it handles nice no body roll really at all

Re: My 3.4 t3/t4 Turbo Build
well no vss input to the ms1 u can but the ms1 doesent take the vss signl directly. u have to build a lil circut to convert the pulses to a 0-5 volt output. the ms2 and 3 will take the vss input directly
its not real important to have it just would have been nice to have mph readings in the data logs
but if u still want to hook it up i can give u the drawing for the circut that needs to be built for it, would be about 7 bucks in radioshack parts

hey everyone, i have been speaking with spec clutches in regards to my own clutch needs and in the process they have offered up a forum discount for TGO members. so if your in the market for a stonger clutch hit them up for a 15% discount per Dave Norton
http://www.specclutch.com
ill be posting up my results with there clutch soon as i get it in and installed which could be a bit sooner than planned

Re: My 3.4 t3/t4 Turbo Build
wow nice going man what clucth did u go with and i would hold off on dynoing it just yet the tune is pretty good but i have u setup with an extreamly safe tune as i was sneaking up on the final tune in small steps so a dyno pull now will be considerably down on power compared to a much more zeroed in tune

yeah it would was playing around with photoshop to see what it would look like im starting to rethink my single s475 , thinking about twin gt35r's since i have a lil cash i can burn
twin ball bearing gt35's would spool up lighning quick on a 3.0L motor

it would look pretty good, but its a plumbing nightmare, so im still debating it on the new build, more then likley its going in an s10 pickup so there is less room for turbos and plumbing compared to the f-body

If I get the time, I will be installing a TT 3500 next winter in my toy.
Small twins though, originally planned for my S-15 Jimmy, sized more for low end grunt than top end power. :/

i had twins on mine for about 3 days a wile back , infact it wasnt long before i had the car dynoed. i took them off cause i had a surge issue out of one of the turbos ,and later sold one of the turbos to a member of 60degreev6, and then i droped the 60-1 turbo on the car

Yes, those very same turbos.
That is unless I come across a pair of larger ones between now and when I build the headers.
The only other thing that might change that is if I can't for some reason sell the current set-up complete out of the toy, then I would use the turbo off of it.

nice build up man. so how are u doing the tunes from 3 states away? thats crazy! i live on the westside but would be awesome to meet up and see that thing. If i ever get my own place ill be starting on my build but until then im stuck with no garage... mines looking like a 350 tpi turbo but nothing too exciting mainly just a mild street car.

btw how did you like the material that the ebay kit came with? was it not cheap stuff? I was just going to mock up around what i needed and ask a exhaust shop for the pieces out of just some exhaust pipe. the exhaust shops around here are pretty cool about stuff like that.

megasquirt is pretty easy my best piece of advice is read the manual, even the parts u think u already know, read them anyway.
my first ms install tunning adventure i knew nothing about it, the manual made it so easy to do. Me and a friend also with no prior ms knowledge or experiance got my car running on the megasquirt in a few hours and fully tuned in a few days

Re: My 3.4 t3/t4 Turbo Build
btw how did you like the material that the ebay kit came with? was it not cheap stuff? I was just going to mock up around what i needed and ask a exhaust shop for the pieces out of just some exhaust pipe. the exhaust shops around here are pretty cool about stuff like that.
everything else is pretty good though
all the hot side tubing for pilsburys turbo kit didnt come from enay though just a set of flanges i belive, all the tubing for the headers and downpipe came from columbia river mandrel bends

Re: My 3.4 t3/t4 Turbo Build
I have been using Columbia since thier website name was ColumbiaRiver dot com haha. They are awesome, but can't seem to keep me stocked up on 1.625" bends
Just got orders for 8 more sets of FWD 60v6 headers and had to wait weeks for them to make more...

So are you done porting my plenum yet? I'm going crazy waiting for this stuff to arrive! The turbos will have to be a winter project though not enough time left before the track closes to get it done.

Re: My 3.4 t3/t4 Turbo Build
santa came early
however correct me if im wrong....they sent me the clutch kit for the 4th gen v6 trans instead of the 3rd gen v6 trans. i can see where it can be confusing having a mut of a car lol
are those kits actually different for those two cars or are they just different part numbers
