Good used 2.8 internals
Anyone got any used but good rods?
Only need 1 for the 85 2.8 Im putting back together for the S15.
Low mile engine with 1 spun rod bearing.
Once I pick the scab off the crank Ill just need a rod to slap it back together.
budget build, only replacing what has to be replaced.

Rods are the same but pistons aren't. Make sure you find a machine shop with the right equipment to press the rod pins. Anything that isn't behind a gas station should have it lol. I have rods with the pistons removed.

Re: Good used 2.8 internals
I have exactly one pair of 2.8 pistons and rods without rings. LMK. I just pulled them out of the FWD mockup block 2 days ago and there is no damage of any sort on them. I'll even throw in the stud nuts and bearing halves.
:edit: Also, depending on how long the crank was turning without a bearing, you may need to either have the crank turned or slap in another one (have one of those as well).

I have a complete rotating assembly out of a 2.8L V6. Hell, I have the whole engine. Rotating assembly is in good shape. PM if interested.

Re: Good used 2.8 internals
Pretty sure the crank will clean up easy, but let me take it the rest of the way apart first.
Well just the bottom end
Any bets on if Ill pull off changing the rod / pulling and reinstalling the piston from the bottom??? [aka no head gaskets to buy or vavles to F with
yes IM lazy.]

LOl look at all of us trying to unload our junk on him. It would be easy to pull it from the bottom & reinstall. I've 'repaired' motors that way after the jacket split on sparkplugs.

LOL! Yeah, I kinda feel bad, but, hey, if he needs something I got, that I don't need, why not? Oh, and the monetary compensation would be nice for me...

That crank will need to be turned for sure.
If everyone else falls through i have plenty of gen1/2/3 rods laying around. probably 20 or more.

Re: Good used 2.8 internals
You could easily pull the crank out the bottom (duh), but the ridge in the cylinder will probably be too high within the cylinder for a reamer (not that you could get it in there through the piston assembly anyways). You may damage something trying to get it out the bottom, or even get the piston stuck if the ridge is bad enough.
