So before anyone says search, i've been looking for a few hours now and i can't seem to find the info i need even after the tech articles. I got a 93 3.4 and i want to swap it in my mechanic shop class in highschool.

My questions are when rebuilding this do i rebuild it like a 3.1 or a 3.4? If i put all 3.4 parts on it will it still cooperate with my ecm and all the 3.1 jazz? Will i run into any problems there?

My second question is where to buy rebuild kits, and which kit to buy 3.1 or 3.4?

 

Read the 2.8-3.4 boogie article. Rebuild the internals as a 3.4, keep the injectors for the 3.4(and fuel rail I believe) and use the 3.1 intake and accessories and ECM. That is about it really- the 2.8/3.1/3.4 have the same external block and heads. The 3.1 is a stroked 2.8: the 3.4 is a bored 3.1 with a slightly beefier block internally.

 

I moved this to the V6 forum. While technically an "engine swap", the V6 guys can do a better job of addressing your questions.

you will want to use the 3.1 fuel rail though with the 3.4 injectors.
