bad vibrations, kinda scary

i was at a light, and was going to have to pull out infront of a car on my left, and then get over into his lane to make a turn. So naturally i was going to have to accelerate fast. When the light was about to turn green, i let off the brake and allowed the car to roll, and when it turned green i pushed down the gas, but not all the way. Instantly, there was a huge vibration that went through the center counsol, and a high pitched whining noise, (not coming from brake area.) it was the sound of something spinning, maybe flywheel, or gears, but not sure. Then there felt like there was a lot of wheelhop in the back and quickly after i heard the tire spinning, and then catch and i was off. Recently i put in a new 2.8L, but the tranny wasn't changed, and i was just wondering if this was simply from the new transmission. Later that night, i checked to make sure that i still had all four gears, and all seemed to be acting properly. But the sound did come again when i stomped on the gas at another stop, along with the hop, and the jerk. In one way it's nice to spin the tires from a stop, but the car just gets real jerky . Is that normal on new motors.

You mmight have a bad tranny mount.
Take your car and hold your foot on the brake and then give it some gas if u feel it go thunk its your tranny mount they are 20 bucks for a polyurthane one from summit raceing. Also i had another problem like that too one of the bolts on my tranny came loos so it wasent boolted up to the engline block all the way check that too.

I would also agree that it is the tranny mount. I recently had to put a new one in, it had all of the same problems as yours does!

how hard is it to change the tranny mount. Also like i said i just had a new motor put in, and the guys tightened everything, or they were supposed to, so hopefully it's not a bolt connecting to the motor. I'll check the tranny mount later. Any other info is welcomed, i'll check the Hayne's on the procedure. thanx guys.

Actually, I prefer to just go under the car (engine off), and try to push the end of the transmission up to the sky, like you're bench pressing it. Everything's hinged on the motor so you don't need to be a musclehead (like me, heh heh) to move it.

If it moves upward more than 1 or 2 mm, then the trans mount is shot. In fact if it's shot you should be able to push it to the floorboards.
