Before i start this story there is NO disrespect implied or ment to any of the 17 and younger crowd.......


Came home about an hour ago, the fiancee and i went out to dinner and on the way back there was a 16 to 17 year old that had pulled up next to me at a red light on the main drag where i live. Its a long road (beltline for those that live in the dallas/irving area) Anyways i was talking to the better half and i glace over and he and his friend were looking at my car ----- no big deal, its a good looking 3rd gen. Anyways he rolls the window down and asks what i have in it, it sounds mean, I told him it was a V6 and he laughed asking if i want to go, his 4 banger was gonna teach me a lesson. I declined as 1 theres cops ALL over beltline and two i was in the left turn lane and don't have the get up and go to get ahead and whip into his lane all in under 100 feet, not that i would try even if i did. He laughed again and said afew choice words about how i was this and that and how my car sucked yadda yadda... Anyways the light goes green and from the WRONG lane punchs it and lights his tires up --- it was a standard, whips around and infront of me causing me to swerve to miss him and stop in opposing traffic. So whatta ya know.... Mr Irving PD happen to be in the drive thru lane to the burger king we were going to for soda with a FULL veiw of this freakin idiot from hell. So long story short he comes out and gets him to pull over and me... The cop talks to me first and i told him what happen and asks me to stay if i had the time. I told him i did and would be happy to. He gets the driver out of the car, searchs their car and finds a open beer, (opppssss BIG mistake) then MAKES the drive come over and apolijize to me, to my better half, explain why what he did was wrong and why he will not do it again. The cop then proceeded to arrest both of em and take em in to call their respective parents... What abunch of fools and EXACTLY why you DO NOT want to street race guys..... These low lives didn't look drunk, prolly weren't but would have/could have killed someone thinking they were all that.... This is how ya get pulled into a tragic scene... Anyways thought i would share

Hey now ivae had my car since i was 16 over 2 years and when something goes wrong with it i take it to the shop that weekend. Yes allot of teens dont take car of there cars but what about the ones who do like ME. My car is in cherry condition only thing worng is a cracked dash and thats it.

 

Fast RS, you're one of the more mature teenagers.... one of the ones who takes pride in what they drive. Now, I have been guilty of ragging out a car every now and then (My dad's Cougar needs new tires to even THINK about passing inspection... that's bald).

But what those guys in that 4-banger did... that's just plain unexcusable. Especially talking that way in front of your fiance. (I'm chivilrous.... what can I say? ) Sadly, too many teens seem to be like that nowadays. (I know... I'm only 17... but I usually act older... I like to think that I'm mature enough to talk about it like this )

Ive raced people before and when i win they try to chase me or ill slow down and they will pass and flip me off or try to run me off the road. This is my first car and its my baby i mean how many poeple kiss there car goodnight or give it a present when its been good lol see thats how much i care about my car and if it is ever totaled im gonan keep it and fix it up better then before. Allot of people i know who's PARENTS buy them new cars or flat out buy them a car treat it like crap it slike its scratech or dented totaled and when i have kids ill help them buy a car but if they want one they will have to work for it because if somethings given to you you dont have pride in it but if you work for it thats pride in it self.
Oh ya Remeber how my blackout covers broke well i sent em back Jegs returned them and i also got the clear ones because the smoke ones you couldnt see a damn thing infront of you.

 

yeah i understand what ya mean with teenagers. there is some kid at my school who drives around a hoopty IROC with two donuts on the back. no joke.

 

Go FAST RS, I am 18, don't have a car right now, sold my last due to insurance, and the winter, but my last car (87 Olds 2.8 A4) when something broke, I would fix it that weekend, brakes, sensors etc. And the guys were drinking in the story above, well I figure the money I save by keeping away from the parties should by me my Camaro. Not all teenagers are the same, sure we do some dumb things, but doesn't everyone??

Ya I will never drink in drive i dont wana hurt my car im awalys the designiated driver and i jsut quit smokin cigs so far am at 1 week and quit smoken weed 2 weeks with allthe $$$ im savin im buyin parts for my car i just realised what a waste of money it was and time so now im spending more time with my car and less with that other stuff

I didn't mean to insinuate that EVERY teenager treats their car like crap. I mean, I'm only 20 and I've had my car for 3 years. Wax every 3 months, oil every 3k, tranny fluid and coolant every 20k, etc. But I can say, I am a minority when it comes to teenagers and their cars!!! And I admit it, when I go to buy a car this spring, I will be biased. Because chances are, the IROC owned by the 50 yr old hasn't been yanked on and torn up quite as much as the one owned by the 18 yr old. No offense meant to the younger ones here (of which I am one)...its just the way it goes.

 

My Freind(20) bought a 87 monte carlo for $700 which was a steal. He rides it so hard that its a POS now. I wouldnt give him $7.00 for it now. It just shows that guys like us like to ride ours kinda hard, but take care of it too. I guess not everyone charishes their cars like we do our F-bodies.

I just ih i had a biger interior monkie knows why lol. Seriousely every thing aftermarket i put on i keep the stock part just incase it become a collector item and i wana show it or sell it for more stock parts = $$$$$ later on in life i have a pile of stuff gathering from my car i almt considerd keeping the stock muffler when i had em switched lol

 

it seems the the FIRST owners of most of our cars (especially irocs) beat the living tar out of them, and then sold them to someone who either beat it more, or one who slowly restores it bad to it's glory... I'll admit I've burned up 4 right side tires in the last year, but I've also improved the car by leaps and bounds. So I say "It's ok to beat it, as long as you can fix it."

 

I've never tried it. My mom used to sell it among other stuff, and I've ALWAYS had the opportunity to try it, just never had a desire...
