Sad day for me too...

just spent 600 bucks on my god damn exhaust. When i had the new convertor put in, the yokel did a ****ty job of welding it. When i floored it the torque moved the trans, snapped the welds, pulled my whole god damn exhaust onto the street, dragged popped 2 tires, took out my cat, i-pipe, y-pipe...
new 3" i-pipe, 3" y-pipe, new random tech and now im haulin *** more then b4... make sure someone reputable welds ur stuff!

On another note...anybody know how to solve this problem? Ive been through 2 poly bushings and 3 grade 8 bolts on my tranny mount. The torque is snapping my trans mounts and bolts...IDEAS!!

Gunning at every stop can do that sometimes!!! (J/K)

I have also been told that if you have a broken motor mount, it can cause the trans to mess up. Does that sound like an answer????

go back to the shop, try to scare them into repairing it.. worst case in most states it is illegal to weld a cat converter.. check on yours, a local inspection station should be able to tell you.. as far as the problem, garmber may have a point here, if you have a bad motor mount your tranny could be twisting more than normal.. also is it possible they just had the exhaust hung too tight? it shouldnt really be pulling on the rubber hanger, just hanging from it..

Nope, before and now they were perfectly hung. Not tight, but hanging. Now they did some custom stuff so its properly aligned for my 5 speed mounts....

Graeme, you got poly engine mounts??

Where the heck from? I didn't think they made them for our V6's! I cross-referenced GM part #'s with ES's website, and couldn't find a matching part!

What's the part #?!?! I assume they're not Energy Suspension- or are they?? Thanks!!

lemme rephrase that...

i contacted energy suspension, and this was basically a sub contractor for them for little projects.

This may not solve all of your problems but I wouldn't use grade 8 bolts on the tranny mount.

Grade 5 does not have the tendency to snap as much as Grade 8 does.
