My car's hard to start
My car's hard to start
When i turn the key it takes a while to start, i have to give it some gas too and it still takes several seconds. Probably 4-8 seconds. It's a Fuel Injection (Multi-Port) and yet I have to give it some gas. Before I got it it had been sitting for a while, (a couple of months) without being driven and I just gave it an oil change, changed the air filters, and gave it some of that fuel injector cleaner. On occasion it will start right away. That's about once in every 5 or 6 times.

Are you giving the fuel pump enough time for it to bring the pressure up? I found that I have to wait a second or two after I turn the key to the on position before I start. You shouldn't have to give it gas at all since it's computer controlled.

You said you replaced the air filters but what about the fuel filter? Its on the underside of the car, drivers side. A fair size silver cylinder. A friend had problems with his car starting (a hyundai) & we replaced the fuel filter... It fires up everytime
listen i had this same problem and this is what i did accel 8.8 wires, accel super coil,
bosch plat+4 plugs, new fuel pump,k-n air filter, accel cap and rotor, and i still had this problem but not as bad well i took out the motor and had it rebuilt so i never found out the problem because like you said
sometimes it starts right up and others it dont but if you let it sit for a day all u have to do is barely turn the key a it starts
but drive it around and heat it up then let
it sit for an hour and it takes longer to start also i found that my flywheel was cracked in three spots i think the shift kit did that dont know for sure but maybe the timing chain was stretched and heat up cool down affected the timing?

I bet he's just going from "off" to "crank" without waiting for the pump to prime. Mine will crank & crank & crank if I forget to do that, too. If I let the pump prime for a few seconds at "on", then go to "crank", the car starts up in 1/2 to 1 seconds.

Ya, i let it sit in the 'on' position a bit. Still hard to start.
I'm changing the fuel filter this weekend so we'll see if that does anything.
Also, I've never changed a fuel filter before.. Anybody have any tips?
