2.8 -> GN swap

Ok, I've possibly found a very very nice donor car.. I've only got the following issues..
1) GN heads, it's been said they won't clear the strut towers, and it's also been said they will. Anyone got a definite answer on this? How high will 3.8 LeSabre heads bump the compression? I can't afford putting in new pistons...
2) 200-4R transmission, what kind of changes would be needed to put it in place of my 700r4?
3) Turbo downpipe, where the heck am I gonna get a TTA downpipe? And how much am I looking at spending?
4) Motor mounts, 305 motor mounts work or there special ones for the 3.8?

'86 Camaro SC, black /w silver racing stripes
2.8l MPFI/700r4 /w special 2nd gear delete option
In search of new v8 engine & transmission, now contemplating t5 swap to get me out of this mess.
MSD coil, Accel 8mm wires, SplitFire plugs, Gabriel hijackers, possible performance chip I don't know about.. gotta crack open the ECM and check sometime

1) 2004R SHOULD be a near bolt-up...don't quote me on it though, as I've never tried it.

2) The 3.8 heads WILL NOT clear. Anyone who says they will is on crack. If there is anyone who doesn't want to believe me, I have 3 period TTA road tests to prove that they are on crack

3) Things such as motor mounts you will need to get through a GM dealer. My bet is they're still lying around some warehouse, somewhere...a turbo downpipe should be the same deal. NO idea as to how much...then again, I don't wanna know

Exhaust stuff should be easy though. I gotta think some speed parts places should have stuff like that.

Didn't someone say that 3.8 heads from a front-wheel-drive V6 would clear the strut towers?

I've priced a bare set of replacement heads for my TTA at $215.00 each. Then you have to buy everything else, valves springs retainer, etc. The compression ratio should be 8 to 1 for that application. The aftermarket downpipe can be bought many places, my were from ATR at $350.00 plus $250.00 for the wastergate plus $200.00 for the cat plus $600.00 for the cat back. Terry Houston has a setup for $450.00.

Check out GMHTP magazine for phone numbers for Cotton's Performance, Duttweiler Perf. ATR, Eastern Perf., Kirban Perf., Modern Musclecar. There are a lot of people that can help (and you will help).

The 3.8 heads WILL clear. Dont listen to Jason E. If you put GNX heads on you will loose the A/C. If you use the TTA heads you will have no problem. If you want anymore info on the 3.8L swap either IM me on AIM or drop me an email.

later

The GN heads will clear yes, but u will lose a/c. If you swap to tta heads, u also have to do pistons as the pistons with tta heads will raise compression which u dont want to do. Ud have to do TTA heads and pistons.
