overdrive 5th gear for us v6 guys?
i was reading up on g Force transmissions, and how their 5th gear is geared .69 so it acts like an overdrive on the highway.
I wouldn't even want the g force for the strength, but I WOULD love to reduce my RPM's on the highway. I bet I could get an extra 4MPG out of the car, and eventually the tranny would pay for itsself
so is anything like this available for the V6's? so far I'll I've seen from g force is applications for the v8

pretty sure they can do it on the v6 t5 as well
im no expert but i imagine you could get just the 5th gear you want and have it put in your current trans

that would be nice, but I would probably want to modify my other gears to compensate them evenly. At least make 4th gear a little longer.
hopefully a transmission guru will chime in. I put it here because we're talk about a V6, but I can had a mod move this to the Transmission forum if needed

Yeah stock 5th gear should be an OD ratio, anything higher than 1.00 ratio is pretty much OD. Or at least on most cars thats the case, some newer cars with like 7 or 8 gears might be different idk..

interesting. I thought it was 1:1. ok, I wouldn't be getting that much out of a .69 then....

Re: overdrive 5th gear for us v6 guys?
Just in case you DO put some real power down, you can use a V8 trans behind your V6.
I have a V8 T5 in my 88 bird right now. The only difference in mounting is the clutch disk itself. I used my V6 pressure plate, and had a clutch shop in Fort Wayne, IN, make a smaller diameter V8 clutch disk for me to use. It works great.
There are lots of guys (including Summit, Jeg's and the rest) who will make you a good clutch disk for not much money. No reason not to do it.

That's interesting. If I build a stroker or even a turbo that's good to know
