My fan did this, then I unpluged it, and pluged it back in a few days later, and for some reason, it started working properly again....just a thought, maybe you will have the same luck

How do you know it's NOT the fan motor?
Fan Sensor is at the passenger side, back of cylinder head.
The worst one to remove! Hope it's not that one.

Last summer i overheated my car past the 260 mark 2 times in 1 day. No matter what i did my fan would not turn on. I guess a rat got in my enginebay and the power cap that is next to the radiator on the passnger side it chewd up a powerwire that controled the fan relay i guess and also shorted out a wire the insulation on te wire was melted.

Do what I did, Get a wire and tap it into the ignition block by the front of the passenger side behind the light assembly where the battery is. Run that wire to the power of the fan. Now my fan comes on when the ignition is on, car runs cooler and plus it save d me a new fan.. It has worked this way now 3 years on that same fan. I did this cause some realy and harness crapped out and it was cheaper and I really think this fix is better.

Does the fan run when running the AC? After a certain pressure is reached within the AC system it will kick on.(that will determine if the fan is the culpirt) I know on mine the temp sending unit only ran the dash gauge. The thing that actually told the ecm to power the fan was my coolant temp sensor. It is located on your intake manifold. I had to remove my upper plenum to change mine(on my 3.1 anyways) Be very careful when removing it, i took it at out at a very slight angle(did not know i was) and i had to re-thread the hole!!!! What a PITA. Anyways hoped i helped.

I had my fan die a few months ago. After the motor seized it melted through the fuseable link (not the fuse, the wire.. go figure).

Oh, and another easy way of checking the fan thing is to do the whole paper clip in the computer connecter under the steering column thing. When it enters the field dianostic mode the fan is supposed to engage.
