I PASSED SMOG WITH THE 3.4 SWAPPED ENGINE!!

I DID IT!!
The smog guy kept the tranny in second for the testing (remember my 700R4 doesn't have 3 or 4 clutches).
While it's testing, he shouts "This is running Clean!" (It better, only got 44,000 miles, now!).
Timing light tested also. My timing by ear is 9.5 of a proper 10.
Results
C02
14.1 (@1779 rpm)
14.6 (@2076 rpm)
02
1.7 (@1779 rpm)
.8 (@2076 rpm)
HC - Max is 163/113
mine was 159 (@1779 rpm)
89 (@2076 rpm)
CO - Max is .85/.65
mine is .52 (@1779 rpm)
.58 (@2076 rpm)
NO - Max is 1169/1029
mine is 302 (@1779 rpm)
592 (@2076 rpm)

IF my car was able to shift into third it would have been so much lower (all measurements).

Was totally worth the wait.
Now, onto the tranny rebuild and then the cold air set up, I think I have finalized (two versions to experiment with).

Do the 3.4 long block swap boogie
SO WORTH IT, IT EVEN PASSES SMOG!
I FINALLY BEAT THE CA. SMOG PEOPLE AT THEIR OWN GAME!!

Just beef up your tranny for the extra torque!

Great job! Glad to see it went well. You mentioned you have 19lb injectors? Was your car warmed up before the tests were taken?

I'll be real honest, I do not know the poundage rating of the swapped injectors.

I do know that they are the ones from the 3.4 engine (which are I'm told the same as a Chevy 305 CID engine). The spray pattern is different that the 2.8 ones.

I will say I put in some premimum gas & a bottle of Liquid Gumout.
Yes, the vehicle was warmed up. And I only used first & second gear of my tranny, third and fourth are not operating

hey Ked. i do know this, the 1993-1995 F-body 3.4L engine has 17# injectors (they are weak..gm didnt build the car for performance after all) so if you have one of those engines, you've got 17# injectors, might wanna beef them up a little 19/22#(305) injectors...

This puppy sings as it is.
It has so much torque it overpowered the tranny.
Can't wait for the rebuild job on the tranny.
I miss driving this Firebird.
It's a lot of fun.
And it gets about twice the milage as my 1974 Corvette!

Hi Tom,
I hope my swap is an inspiration to all, now.
Do it correct, no one knows (except for the taillights ya show them ) and it passes smog.

What a great deal!

Now to learn how to rebuild a tranny.

I've done my second distributor (my S-10 Blazer one), gonna do a 2.8 carb this week. It's all finally wrapping up.
YeaH! I want to enjoy things again, not rebuild anymore.
Except the hot little 3.4 for my S-10 Blazer.
This engine will get the Edelbrock intake (if necessary) & headers (what a concept legal headers!).
