I got that.... Its a 3.1L v6 and he has the (camaro) TPI air intake and the grille off a Z28. And yes he has ram air, but he has told me it doesnt do that well because of the radiator making the air hot.

it doesnt do that well because of the radiator making the air hot.

David can explain this better but this is what I know. Before he had a cold air intake going into the fender. He musta not been happy with that so he did the TPI ram air intake. Here is the way to do it... He did this and said that it didnt do as well as his old cold air intake so he is doing a new cold air. And that is all that I know. He can tell you more if he ever gets his *** on!

the reason it makkes the air hot is how it sits the upper pice of it goes over the top of the radiator and the radiator is hot so if i go for a drive and i cme home pop the hood and put my hand n the intake that is over the radiator the plastic is modertly hot s it heats up the air basicly. GOD I HATE THIS KEYBOARD.

I DID IT OH YA

Don't mean to ruin a sale but, I found mine less expensive at the wrecking yard.
Pick a Part
I'm still trying to figure out how to use it on my Firebird.
That's why I'm thinking of cutting the hood.

Want to buy my TPI intake set up?

Comes with all parts ya want.
I can get more all day long at the yards.

Go back and read the instructions again.
When you repost the pic, make sure all the enteries are correct.
If you go back to edit your thread, make sure both enteries of the url are correct.
Check them, then post pics.
You can do it!

I haven't done this yet, but I read a while back that there is another way for ram air. The place were the airbox is stock has a battery tray. I read if you cut throug the tray and through the body below it and run a extention tub down with a conical K&N on it. That is cold air i suppose, but if you were to put and elbow on it and faced the opening fowards and found somewhere to put the filter. It would be ram air.

Hey, that Bowtie grill looks sweet. How much did you pay for it? Those things are impossible to find at the boneyards.

bow tie grille is 60 bucks at the gm dealer, so not that bad to buy a new one.

FASTRS, nice ride! There are companies that make heat-shielding products; possibly you could use some of their stuff to insulate your intake. Summit Racing carries a few brands... DEI and Cool-Tec are two I can think of off hand. You might be able to buy some "starter heat-sheild blankets" and wrap them around the tubes.

19V6BIRD...
Does your Firebird have an SSA badge on the doors? Do you have any clue what it means? I have only seen them on my 89 Firebird. Thanks
