new 3.4 and 3.1 liter engines
I was wondering what a 1995 3.1L engine is rated for HP and can a person use that block and CAM with our heads and intake out of a newer chevy product. and could a 3.4 L engine CAM fit in a 3.1L block, and could a 3.1L block be over bored, and who would sell the bigger pistons.

Ryan,
Take the easy route.
Go get the 3.4 engine.
1993-1995 was the model year range.
2.8/3.1 cam is the same
The 3.4 is better.
The 2.8/3.1/3.4 heads are the same, springs and retainers in the 3.4 are better.
Sure a 3.1 can be overbored, but it cannot be made into a 3.4. The 3.4 block is "different".
You win by starting with the 3.4
Wish I could have gotten my 3.4 as inexpensive as I saw it posted lately.
Ask what pistons here

Hi Ryan.
Everything is a perfect swap.
Here are my details in this thread.
You can make this happen, real easy, lot of proper worthwhile effort.
BUT HAVE A STRONG TRANNY!
https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/001462.html
You will not see every answer to your questions, as you have a different year.
BUT, when both engines are out (side by side) and you have my thread as a guide, it will all make sense.
Promise.
Proper planning makes this is painless mission.
I wish I had these answers when I did my swap. I sould have saved about $100 or more, in effort, gas, etc...

Great SCORE!!
Print out the thread and take it with ya to look at that engine.
Get everything I mention, nothing else is necessary.
Get his price LOWER, (spend it on the gaskets), have cash, too!
