Rare Car
Hey wouldn't the 4cyl camaro's be worth more once camaro sadly stops production on one of the best muscle cars of all time??? i mean i've never seen a 4cyl camaro and i've seen many camaro's....i've also never really heard of them....despite the lack of power in them...wouldn't it be better in a $$$ perspective......
Also, what kind've mods can you really find for a 4cyl camaro??? i mean its tough enough for us but it must be ROUGH for the 2.5L 4banger

Actually, you're kinda correct.
If you know the engine history.
The 4 cylinder is the PONTIAC engine, can be built into a little thing they call the SUPERDUTY. IRON DUKE they call the 2.5.
Pontiac does/did support that engine long time ago. LONG TIME AGO.
Like back in the 60's. This engine was designed for the 1962 Tempest with the Transaxle. 1963 Tempest became the Lemans/GTO we all know about.
My neighbor had a Firebird 4 cylinder. It was my first look at them.
You think we 6-ers have lots of room, hell, you can build a football stadium under what's left of that engine bay room!
Worth more, it REALLY all depends to whom.
But, out 3rd gen are becomeing collectors & a bit more valuable. BUT never as much as a V-8 car (Z-28/Trans AM).

see thats where i think you are wrong...which is worth more somthing rare or something popular....somthing rare...since the 4cyl is VERY RARE i assume it would be worth more to the avid collector...i can imagine all the damn space in the engine bay..probably enought to fit another 4cyl...4+4=8 ya know haha
Actually production-wise, they're not rare. There were A LOT of Duke's made, but most people eventually changed them out for something bigger. Plus collectibility is all about demand. How many collectors do you think will honestly fork out a huge chunk of change for a 4 cylinder.
Good luck finding one in good condition too. Think about this. The 4-cylinders were bottom, and I mean BOTTOM of the line, mainly there for people who just wanted the look of the car. And from observation, it's always the bottom line cars that get trashed the most.

Hey man I think 4 bangers suck and all but you could say the same thing about these 3.1L and 2.8L V6 motors being DOG motors with no HP, I hope to some day do that 3.4L swap to gets some more HP
Look back in time, The cars that are worth money are the FAST ones or rare production ones. Not the base model of a Car because the optioned one always sales more. Look noone is going to pay more now for a Firebird with a Straight 6 in it from 1968, but the 400 was the most popular car, and its worth more.
Its as simple as the demand will dictate the value and to a collector there is never anything special about the base model of ANYTHING. Look in any collectors stable. How many plane Janes do you see? Probably none unless there is a sentimental attachemnt to it.
The GTAs and IROCs Will be the cars Remembered from the Third Gens. Just like the Bandit cars are the ones Rememberd from the 2nd Gen and the Ram Airs and SS from the First. I mean yea all of them will be cool and Worth something someday, but it will not be what p[eople Idetify a car with when you say I have an 89 Camaro, they will Picture/Think of an Iroc.

Past Thirdgen:
86 Trans Am w/ built 355TPI with SLP goodies and too much other stuff to List. One sweet *** car, wish I would have had a good enough Job to pay insurance on three cars so I could keep it, but for a 89 Turbo Trans Am w/ Low miles, I think I made the right choice!

Well your theory is good for the NEAR future but 30 years or so it will be a different story...I have both a 1967 Mustang with the 289 4spd and a 1967 Mustang with the inline 6 4spd....i've gotten a lot more offers and a lot higher than the 289...both are pretty much exactly the same except engine...all original........
I have a 1967 RS/SS Camaro 4-Speed Convertible, with every option except four.
My Wife/Son have the 1968 Camaro 6 Cylinder floor shifter console.
Both are worth a lot.
Both get offers all the time.
Our 6-ers will be cheap entry 3rd gens forever.
And that's ok.
Point being, all the F Body line will be worth big bucks soon. Some more than others.
The 6 cylinders in the 1967 & 1968 Firebirds were the FIRST rubber tooth timing belt (just like Hondas) Over Head Cam engine. I do not believe it was offered for the 1969 line. I believe all Firebirds were V-8's
I myself had a 1968 Firebird 400/TH400, undefeated Van Nuys street racer, that went to a collector in Canada in 1982.
I do miss that car, too.

So far.
Only, SO far.
Check Hemmings for the price increases.
It's gotta be stock, original condition that's bringing in the bucks.
OR else have "History"
What's History?
My 1967 is former drag racing car, from the 70's.
Not butchered, just that special history.
Adds $$$$.
Part of the "Oh, that's why" mystique.
Another example.
My 1974 Corvette is worth more, because I know/have documented it's complete ownership history.
I have the birth certificate (gas tank build sheet sticker).
I have DMV paperwork from every owner.
I have conversations from speaking to several past woners.
My 1974 is very original (it was "born" Aug. 29, Weds. 1973).
That also adds to my Corvette vehicle worth.
TO SOME.
Others will go so what.
The eventual buyer will go Ga-Ga over stuff like that. And gladly fork over the extra $1,000 I'll ask for that documentation.

Camarovroom,
If someone offered you more for your 6 cyl mustang, you should have taken it. Look at the prices of the cars now. Six cylinder mustangs and camaros are selling for far less (5 to 6 thousand less) than the V8 cars with comparable miles and condition. Look at any model, year, or make of car or truck. If it has a bigger engine or mor3e cylinders, the price will be more and it's value will go up. It's just like when they roll out of dealer showrooms. Their resale is naturally higher because of the greater options. The resale values don't do a flip-flop. The lesser the options the lower the value, unless you are talking about cars that were race-prepped from the factory like the 1-LE cars, but even then, their value goes up and stays up because of their limited availability and performance options.
