Ok, I just got a k&n filter for my 92RS and when I tried to put it in, it's too tall! the top of the filter sticks out a couple of inches. Plus, the long screw that goes through my other filter in the middle won't be able to go thru anymore. Because one end of the K&n filter is closed. Please don't laugh at me because I don't know how to put this filter on! I thought it was just like a drop in paper one. So what did you guys do to make yours fit.

take off the air can completely then take the k&n and wedge it on the end of the tube and tighten down the metal clamp. there is a sensor in there also you will needto unscrew that from the air can and tap it into the plastic tube.then i drilled a little hole in that little tab that sticks out off the radiator and put a straplock on ti hold it tight. What do you mean tap it into the tube? When you say tube, do you mean the air duct?

The K&N drop-in filters don't fit the air box?? That's weird.. did they send you the right part? I had the circular K&N in my old stock air box, it fit exactly, no mods needed...

Well, I got my filter on ebay. And the guy said it came out of his 3.1 camaro. So I got it for 15 bucks. That's cool though TomP, I wish I had got the one I could have just dropped in! Would be much easier! So does anyone know what tap the sensor means?!

sorry for my delayed response, I've been putting in a damn radiator since mine had a crack in it. anyways, yes I drilled a hole in the duct from the throttle body(not the crimpled one but the "L" shaped piece) and then threaded it in, sorry for not being a little more detailed. is your air filter had a black rubber/plastic cap on the end of it?? thats what mine was, I believe it actually was the one for a foprd thunderbird, but oh well it fits, works, and sounds cool when ya hit the throttle!!

Yeah, my filter has a rubber circular thing on one end and a black cap on the other that says k&n. Thanks for all the help everyone! It's been raining today so I couldn't install it. did you put some kind of box around your filters?

Ok, I was going to put my k&n filter today but, it's overcast so it got me thinking. Since the filter doesn't have anything around it like the old air canister, will it get wet when it rains? Isn't that bad to get those wet?
