gettin rid o the t top.

This is not an advertising add first off.(Overclock)

I am getting rid of the 91 t top 305 this year, not sure when just as soon as I get it in pretty good shape. I am looking at a (gasp) Turbo talon AWD 94, all power and only has 87k on the clock over the 91's 116K PLUS...

Though not to fear KED I am still working on the 60 degree stuff. Like the mini ram and the turbo kit.(Tech content) But I am also looking at opening up a speed shop in southern illinois(the only one in existance if it happens) and I will take both sides of the ocean(import and american) More money the better. But honestly I will be tayloring to the import sceen simply because this is a college town and there are more imports then american. But hopefully after I get the shop off the ground I will be able to do alot more stuff for my 60 deg 92 which I am keeping.

Anyway I am thinking of the name Generation X Racing... What you all think of that name????

Start working swap meets to create grass roots effort to make your business name.
I've meet many people that sell speed parts on the side, while they have day jobs.
Plus, look at cost of real estate (rent), licenses, pollution laws, etc.
NO DOUBT you can do it (THIS IS AMERICA), but, you are competing with the internet and the magazine coverage of 2 page ads and shop name spread in the pages.
Want a real education?
Fly out to LA.
I'll introduce you to the Rice Cooker next door to my machinst friend.
Over the weekend, I passed the Rice Cooker trailering one of the customers cars to Fomosa Drag Strip (Bakersfield) for racing. This guy has people there all the time.
What I am saying is size up the competition, find out how to do it, better and make more personal profit!
OF COURSE YOU CAN DO THIS!!
Who will be the mechanic?
Want to make your business better and cheaper? Do it over the internet! Lower overhead.
That's why I only sell on Ebay, now. That's where I sell all my car parts. The over head is so low, my profit is much higher.
Or, NO rent or business license or pollution laws to contend with.
I'll show ya a sample of my latest ad.

Well I was going to have a web site and do alot of stuff through E-bay Actually. I just want a "hard Shop" for the locals to get stuff afterall there is no speed shop within close to 75-100 miles of here.... Something is deffinately wrong with that.

And Ironically I was going to have Summit as a major supplier once I got the buss. license. They offer a great dealer discount, and I could carry ALL PERFORMANCE PARTS, or at least have them at my disposal for ordering. I was looking at a "rice" supplier called Nopi, they have good dealer prices too.. about 50 percent off, so I could under cut there mag prices and get the more popular turbo kits and more importantly the body kits from them. And they have a direct japan supplier that carries the exotic japanesse parts that some people want.

I was looking through Nopi and you can get upper and lower brace struts... I mean imagine the rigidity of that??? I mean you can go around corners on 3 wheels!

As I said before this is a college town and as soon as the "import" owners catch on that there is a local speed shop for there cars it'll explode(hopefully). And as far as the mechanic either I was going to do installs when I had time(make sure customer understands this) and/or they can install with the tools I would have in the shop. So they can do the simple strut bars and little pidly things themselves and save some dough. I want to be near Carbondale(the college town) but I can't be in Carbondale because there taxes are so high. I was thinking of putting up shop after got internet stuff going good next to a sterio shop(not sterio one but a diff one), thats is about 3 miles away from C'Dale but the taxes are better there and its near 2 other some what big cities that have alot of imports running around.

Hell after I get really established I may go to the guy that owns the sterio shop and ask if he wants to "merge" to combine the efforts of the 2. Have a speed and sterio shop all in one!. I can get good advertising through local radio and papers so its not that bad to get up really... it just depends on the location I finally pick.

Cheap advertising suggestion.
Do up flyers and leave them on cars.
Offer a 5% or 10% discount when you present this flyer, to attract buisness.
Staple your buisness card to the flyer, too!
Keep planning all the angles you can.
I suggest you go to the stereo store NOW & help him with the rent!
Everyone would win!
Don't loan out tools or space for customers to install.
How do you spell "LAWSUIT!!"
Either you do it, or let them.
Graeme will confirm this.
PAW does not install parts. They sell, only.
They suggest people/shops to do the install, tho.

Yes about 5 miles the other side of christopher. I am going to do some work to it first as I said. I finally got the drivers side power window working yesterday, have the replacement motor for the pass side, just have to install it. It needs a carpet, a small rust hole fixed and exhaust. I was going to convert it to carb(it has a low 13 PSI pump) and put some go fast stuff like headers, suspension some engine stuff and rebuild the motor. I was going to hope to get around 2k for it after is said and done. Maybe a little more.

The renting of tools and stuff is simple to get around... a signed form by the customer, but I am still thinking about other things right now. I am still tring to get a solid bussiness plan so I can get some grants and loans and what not. But I still love that I will have Summit as a major supplier. It just helps satisfy everyone around. And depending on the prices I can get I may be able to go up to 20 percent below them!. So thats a big difference.

I know its sad but I bought a honda engine performance book the other day and they have the thing pumping 477HP and 398Ft Lbs! from a "unbreakable 4 banger"....

Anyway my comp is down thats why replies are few and far between as I am having to use inlaws comp... but I am tring my best to keep this updated. At least with summit as a supplier I do have a limited sterio stuff....

I think thats a good idea. Hey what sells sells.
I had a friend ask me if I could install a cold air kit that he bought of the net in his neon . I told him any body could install one with some simple tools yet he insisted I do it. Basicly what Im getting at is theres still people out there who are scared of touching thier cars so if you have a shop there more likely to go to you to purchase and install bolt on speed parts. Easy money.
Good Luck!

Well I sent my stuff off to Springfield today so hopefully within next week I'll have the stuff I need. So remember peps if you see something you want from summit, edelbrock or anyone else let me know and I'll see what I can do for ya!.

Me personally am going to get some stuff for the T to get it running real good before I get rid o it.(and pay half the normal price for it!) Though sadly enough the summit people don't cut that great a deal, I find that odd... But I get one hellofa deal on import junk... go fig huh???

I am still planning of going directly to the manufacturers to see if I can get better deals, afore mentioned edelbrock, hooker, borla, holly performance group and others. Hopefully I can get better deals through them and be rid of those freaks in summit(not that I have anything against them) they just do not offer much of a "dealer discount" unless I order like 5k worth of stuff at once and I'm just not going to do that.
