would you call this rice?

I am trying to change the look on my car a little and I am afraid of going cheap rice looking so I figured I would ask you guys rather then going to the import crowd cause a lot of them think white tail lights and a supra spoiler looks cool

oh and mod please dont lock this thread I am trying to get an honest opinion here

your guys have some sweet *** cars and like you I dont care for overly rice or when it is done untastefull. so please just blab away at what you think

They are different... but definitly rice. Strange how much you can make a thirdgen look like a 3000 GT.

well I guess I am the only one that realized those were RX7s'. Well I like 1 and 3 I think they look the most bas A$$, but I like the wing on 5. I like how it blends into the lines of the body.

Hey RX whatda pay for yours. Theres a guy near here that has a RX for sale and I donlt think it runs, but hell it can't be that hard to rebuild it right?LOL It's the same body style as the ones in the picks.

The biggest thing I like about the import sceen where they are not affraid to modify the look of there car(not to offend the 3rds on the board) but common not everything is rice.

I try to be open to just about everything but some people are just well... gonna stop there.

And I do not need any flames sayin go buy a freggin import honda ect ect.. I am already looking at 2. As I said before I am getting rid of the t top eventually and that money I plan on using to fund an import build up. But as you can ask KED I have several plans on making parts for the 3rd as I will still have 1.

I paid 2200 for mine.
my only problem has been the clutch area but I guess that is my fault doing 5-7k rpm clutch dumps is not that easy on a clutch nor is shifting at 8k :-)
the motor though has 166k on it and should last atleast till 200k without needing to be rebuilt.
as for your other question on rebuilding these things I understand you can do it in under a day. there is only 3 moving parts I think in the whole motor.

about you saying not everything is rice I tend to agree. just when a car is so overdone it looks like crap(anyone say hon-duh?)

oh and how do you get it to become a picture rather then a link

Although forget what everyone else thinks. It's your car and it's an investment into what YOU like. After all, we're not going to be the ones driving it....you are.

I like the last one too... "*****" to me is when a car becomes gaudy. As in, the spoiler's too big, doesn't fit the "shape/style" of the car, or isn't painted. As in, too many stickers, and those damned useless seat-belt-shoulder-belt-cushions. As in, wheels that cost $1000 each, but look gaudy because they don't match the car at all. Basically; if a part stands out on a car like "Hey!! Look at me!!", it's *****. And I'll always hate clear/white taillights, simply because I can't see when the idiot in front of me is braking- but I love the Alteza's (sp?)- those are sharp.

Now, given that my opinion is a little biased as a first gen Rx7 lover/driver (my dad has an 83 GSL, my opinion may be worthless, but I like the third body kit... if you ditched the spoiler on that one it would look bad *** in my opinion... Do you have a TT? I really like the recessed hood scoop on the TT, thats one thing I would put on... probably in conjunction with a twin turbo just to steer clear of the rice stigmata...

if I was to go with the 2-4 ones red and black I would do it without the big wing
too big
would not mind going with just a smaller version or go bareback
and oh yeah I'm N/A for now :-(
need to get a new motor before I go turbo and I will not go twin. to much work not worth the gains

Nice to see another non-rice RX7 enthusiast out there. =)
Personal opinion: Third body kit looks damn good. Combine with 5th spoiler and possibly a few other touches from 5th, and you'll have one sweet looking car.
More personal opinion: Make it fast first. At least break into the 14s before tossing on a body kit like that. My personal opinion of rice is quite varied.. it can 'look' ***** as hell, but if it sits there and turns 12-13 sec 1/4s (without juice, juice doesn't mean anything in my opinion), it's just not rice..

the first pic isnt bad but i dont really like the front end. Dont like 2 and 3 either but the blue one is beautiful! It looks customized without screaming look at me and adds a really nice shape to the car. The rims, hood, and spoiler on that car all go together really well. id say do that one.

rx7speed has an rx7 and wants to have an american car owners opinion on what style of body kit he should get for his car. If you read any of this post, you would know that.

I welcome your guys opinions and yes I do like the last one that was blue though I donno. kinda to stock looking.
that first one though is bad ***
and found another pic of a bod kit though it was already listed and it just looks mean as hell though the wing might have to go
that is the car pictured above

Actually, high wing's don't bother me as long as they're in good taste. What gets me is different color wings, white taillights, stickers, and a non-performing car.

The wing actually looks nice on that car. Some may say that the 95? Toyota Supra Turbo wing's kinda high, but I like the way it goes with the car. Hell, some people even think the stock 92Z28 spoiler is ricy. I like it. Now....I did see an eclipse w/ an ugly high wing....oh, and there's a station wagon w/ a wing on the top running around town here. What's worse....red car, shiny metal wing.

I know that people's opinion matter to a degree....but honestly, if I were to own an import, it'd be Riced out....but all to good taste. No stickers, emblems, everything would be the same color. No UGLY body kit, but it'd have one. Guess what, I'd probably even have the neons on the bottom too.
