ATTN:Camaro_hunter_d & 20-PSI & other fast V6'rs!!

I was reading some replys you both made to the topic "Just curious about v6's" made by IROCThe5.7L. I was just wondering what all mods have you done to your V6 to make it run so good. I have a 3.1L V6 that I want to make run faster and better and I was just wondering what all I can do to make my RS run faster. If you could please list what I should do first then go from there. I have a million people wanting to race me and I don't wanna be embarrassed when I can't keep up lol. Thanks In Advance!

well with mone right now does not have much. I have platnum plugs gaped to .50 Helps torque a little and I polished and slightly ported the upper and middle intake runners. I also have taken the air box off of the car, I just have the tube, the box top the screws into the body that revels a K&N. Mainly what has helped me is learning where to shift with the 5 speed. I typically shift arounf 52-5500 if I am racing.

EDIT I forgot I switched the air pump into a vacuum pump. And I am running a 160 thermo(but thats just to keep from getting too hot.

why did you switch it to a vac pump?
or is this for making vac in the crank case?
if so how much did you land doing that mod.

you can port the intake manifold, as well as the throttle body. replace the stock filter with either a cone filter and a cold air box, or get the dual snork from the Z28. a lower therm will help keep the car a little cooler and that should help it run a little better.
dont know how easy this would be on your cars but you can also wrap the intake in some sort of heat shield wrap to keep it as cool as you can.

you can always bump the fuel PSI up a tad though not always going to work if your car is not in need of that air.

one thing I would suggest to anyone is getting your injectors cleaned. a good company for doing so is http://www.rceng.com/index.htm. they will clean and balance your injectors for you

get a new muffler setup. the stock ones I am sure are restricting.

gut those Friggin cats if you dont need to pass smog.

those are a few of the mods you can do
you can always go in and have heads milled for higher comp. get a new cam. machine to pistons to make them lighter.

I have a new muffler with dual outlets and chrome tips (sounds great!) i did kinda mess it up when i backed up too far and hit something on a curb.... **brakes were messed up** but still sounds great... once i get my tranny rebuilt next week i will start doing some mods to the engine to make it run better and i will start buying little things to get my interior looking the way i want it. thanks a lot...and any more suggestions are welcome!!

Well I have the Vacuum pump/air pump was an easy and 1 buck mod. I took the air filter off the replaced it with a heater hose that runs into the free flowing PCV on the right valve cover. You have to use that elbow that goes to the cat's air tube and you have to use that one way flapper valve too. But I figure I got a good 10 HP above 2200 RPMS. It REALLY OPENS UP ABOVE 2500!. Not to mention it crates a good 14 PSI vacuum so it REALLY pulls the piston seals to the walls!

that is one cheap mod
when I had my camaro I was thinking of buying on of those vac kits and it would have costed me 300 bucks though it was a 71 no smog pump.
