Whats this "special" crossmember your talking about My '87 2.8 5-spd 'Bird took a $10 Autozone mount!
And as for torqueing the mount/crossmember bolts, I just tighten them up as hard as they'll go. Never had a problem with them coming loose.

Holy crap! 150 for a tranny mount? Serious driving can easily break a stock tranny mount. Return that thing and get a ES polly tranny mount from jegs, 22 bucks! Lasts a lifetime too!

C'mon now, Drew posted a useful message on this before. You don't need the $150 mount. You need the $10 mount, and a junkyard crossmember (probably $30). Even if the junkyard crossmember is $100, (which it won't), you're still ahead of the game.

Here's a message (on the trans board) where we help a guy who did a V6-to-V8 swap, and blew his $150 trans mount. Keep in mind- he has a V8 trans in the car, using the V6 mount. https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/004482.html

Here's the original message, with Drew's picture. https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/002493.html The top pic is for the "normal" $10 (or $30 for poly) trans mount for V8's (all) and V6 automatics and some lucky V6 5-speeds.

The bottom pic shows mounts for a manual transmission. The left side is for the "LHO" motor- the 3.1 V6. The right side is for non-LH0 motors; as in, V8's. That's what you can make your car look like.

Therefore, with the correct junkyard crossmember, you can use the "common" GM mount instead of that special order one. C'mon guys, why spend $150 for this thing? The V8's use the common mount- and they're stronger than our V6's- we dont need a fluid filled one.

Hey, just for FYI, i had a liquid filled mount on this and put a regular old mount on with no trouble, and fit the regular old 700r4 crossmember.
