For me 65-70 is about 2500RPM. If I was at 3750RPM I would be doing about 105MPH.

Did you switch tachs or put in a new one and not set it for a V6? Even 4.10s would not make you rev that high in OD unless you have some pretty small tires.

well, i am the cars 3rd owner..........i highly doubt either of the last 2 owners would have switched to 4.10's

i am running 16 inch Z28 wheels with 225/ZR55-16 firehawk tires..................

hmmmmmm........what would be causing this...........fuel mileage is 19 MPG......

thats not 2 bad

and it doesnt seem to have enough RPM's to achieve say a 140 top speed.............

maybe somebody did put gears in???????

When rebuilding trannys, normally gears are not replaced unless it was REALLY messed up. Only syncros/bearings wearout/break, usually.

Does the car sound like it really revving that high? If it is then someone switched gears on you. Your tires are still about stock radius so that is not a problem.

19mpg is not very good for a V6 (3.1L?). You should be getting atleast mid 20s in stock form. When I drive the car hard I get 25mpg. My roommate gets 23mpg with a carbed 307 in a 4200lb car (85 Delta 88).

Mine does a grand in 5th at 25 MPH. Not near stalling, but its basically idling. Is your car kinda revin (not like redline or anything, but like if you're resting your foot on the gas pedal in nuetral) at 25? Might wanna get your car up on jacks, stick the car in nuetral, rotate the drive shaft and count how many turns it take on the shaft for the wheels to go around once.

ok

my car idles at about 1500- 1750 RPMs

i am thinking the original owner put a cam in too maybe

the original owner was a cop and the second owner was a lady

i am the third owner

strange this is

my mom drove my camaro and my dads 97 3.8 and she said mine feels faster

it is pretty quick off the line 2

i am REALLY wondering now if the cop put a cam and 4.11's into it

WHAT??!! Well, neither a cam or gears would cause your engine to idle that high....i dunno...faulty MAP sensor....stuck open ISC valve?? Bad TPS?? You aren't getting any codes?

EDIT: Oh btw, v6 5 speeds have a first gear ratio of around 4:1 while the automatic 1st gear is around 3:1. That low first gear that the 5 speeds have make the car pretty quick until 2nd.....that would explain it being "qiuck off the line".
Do the driveshaft trick though...you'll know for sure if you have stock gears or not.

my car idles right at about 1600 RPMs and is very strong from about 0-50mph. If you have a manual tranny then I would say your car is alot like mine. I doubt you have a cam.

the high idle, i would suspect, is because of broken vacuum lines. Even with the wildest cam made for out sixes, there wouldnt be any way it could idle that high. and even if they did make a cam for our six that'll cause it to idle that high, i'm sure the ECU would've thrown a code by now.

AntiVTEC how did you pull off a win to a 2000 Accord V6? I dont think there is any way with the mods you have that you could pull that one off. Seeing how one gave my friend's eclipse turbo a good run.

How would a vacuum leak cause HIGHER idle? When i disconnect my brake booster vacuum hose the car stalls. No booster hose= HUGE vacuum leak.....correct me if i'm wrong.

V6 accords are jack crap. I dunno how that accord gave a turbo eclipse a good run. I burn my buddy GST eclipse right off the line but catches me right around 50 and blows by. I beat the Accord on the other hand, although really close, by about 3/4 car (I could see the front of his car near my rear tire). The accord I raced was my buddies, which i did the mods on his car, and we regularly take it out to the track which he runs bout 16 flat.

Which for that matter, I question how fast my car really is? Sounds rediculus that I'd hit even 16 flats with my mods huh.
