Air Box, What to do?

should i remove the plastic funnel that is hooked up to the box( ?
i had someone give it gas while i opened the hood and felt the air rush into that tiny funnel... i could tell how it was restricting air...should i cut it? remove it? mabie replace it with a tin flexible ducting tube?

loose the the funnel & replace w/dryer pipe or something.
