Ok, I've never messed with computer chips before, so I don't know about the gains they provide..but I'd put money saying that one would not give you a 10 HP + increase on only a 3.1 liter.. And about mufflers. Flowmasters work great on V-8's, but I've heard many nasty things about them for V-6's. I believe the general consensus in the v-6 board is to use a Dynomax muffler.. They have a good sound, they don't break up as quickly, and they're a hell of a lot cheaper. Hope that helps.

You could better put that $160 towards another mod... save the chip for something you do when you're running out of other mods. Sure high pressure pistons and angled (?) headers are worth it; but are you ready to do that stuff after only doing a K&N? There's plenty more (and cheaper) things to do besides jumping on a "buzz-word"...

i was told that if you increase the pressure in the chambers that that would boost the hp tremendously... and angle heads could give me like 20 hp

i am yet to do a chip...ideally next spring with a random tech cat. but as for exhaust i am running a 2.5" hooker aero-chamber. it was 80 for the muffler...250 for stainless steel custom work and welds on the exhaust piping. i also hear that dynomax is a great buy at about 180 for a full cat-back and it sounds nice from what i hear too..

heres the sound clip:

For 160 buy a dynomax cat back instead or a crane 2030 cam. Don't waste your money on a chip until you have a few better mods like cam or roller rockers or double roller chain. I had the hypertech chip and it was not worth it. It only removed the speed limiter and did nothing else for me. I would not recommend it, I would recommend a jet chip or fastchip instead. GET THE CRANE 2030 cam instead.

umm well no one makes headers... as for the chip do yourself a favor and spend it on something better. After a while spend the money for the chip to buying Prom burning equip to make your own chip and be alot happier with the performance gains. I have the BIN for the 3.1 if anyoone wants to look at it. Just email Emerald_iles@yahoo.com for it. You can remove the speed limiter, increase the "power enrichment" mode, raise the richness of the fuel system, even set the "shift" light to certain RPMs, so it will actually be like a free 50 buck aftermarket shift light. Heck you can even change your speedometer readings with different tires and gears!. If its controlled by the comp you can change it!.

Do the Crane 2030 cam before you toss money away on a chip... Search down for 3.1 mods and read it..

My fastchip seemed ot help too, but if I had it to do all over again I would never waste my money on Pulley, Chips, or high performance plugs till I have the valve train done.
