Oil change.. it lets the engine run smoother and easier with reduced emissions.. ONLY Unocal 76 premium gas, change the fuel filter, the other stuff u mentioned. Make sure the car is fully warmed up too.

Has anybody ever heard of any other fuel additives that might work?

You don't need them... I just got through NJ Dyno inspections with flying colors... I even had a tennis ball in my exhaust, and my car missing like mad...

Just do all the aformentioned, and you'll be fine...

if ya got the $, get one of those multiple spark ignitions, and if you got the gonads, run an oxygen tank line into the air intake, instead of nos, you get a lean thing going.

I used "guaranteed to pass", found it at Pep Boys. I passed with flying colors, so I guess it worked!

To pass NJ's dyno, I did the following a month before the test. Keep in mind I do a major tuneup every year, so I didn't need to worry about too much:

1. I put a cheap (but new) K-mart air filter in (aka the "emissions test only" filter

2. Pulled my 165 thermostat and stuck in a 190, pulled my ADS superchip and reinstalled the original GM chip

3. Made sure the timing was accurate to stock spec (10 deg adv), made sure the plugs were clean and gapped to stock spec (0.045")

4. I removed my dist cap and cleaned up the terminals of any carbon using a small, fine-toothed file

5. Used a piece of cardboard to cover 1/3 of the front of the radiator so the engine would be nice and hot by the time I took the test

6. Sprayed 1/2 can of "TB & intake cleaner" into the engine

Looks like this year, I'll have to remove my homemade cold-air intake, and reinstall the stock parts to pass the visual. I don't know if the mech would care (an air intake is an air intake!), but I've heard they're strict about that in California.

Lol, funny story...

A while back one of my two tailpipes rusted off at the muffler, and then worked loose and took the entire pipe with it... before I got back to the point where it fell off, it had been run over and ruined... So now my car is loud as all h*ll... well they won't pass you if you've got a hole in your exhaust, and they'd argue with me about it being street legal if I said it was... so I took a tennis ball held it up to a torch to make sure it wouldn't burn ( it didn't ) and then rubbed it in dirt so it didn't come into question if they mirrored in that area. Shoved it in and voila, silence. Drove to inspection, held it above idle while waiting to make sure it was good and hot and then had it inspected... passed easily... I can give you the numbers if you like...

The best part was driving home and I had turned out of the place, and was going to another road to lead me in the direction I needed to go home, and the tennis ball fell out! I just had to laugh... it would have sucked if it fell out during inspection...

But yea... I made it, you should be ok... although I'm not in Cali, so I -could- be wrong... Good luck, a good tuneup is a must though.

Thanks again for the help guyz!!!

I'm gonna check for either "emmision 104" or that "guaranteed to pass" stuff. But we don't have a pep boys around my area, so i'm gonna have 2 try Autozone or Kragens.

I'm supposed 2 get it smog checked in about 5 days. So wish me luck!!!
