V6 Discussion and questions about the base carbureted or MPFI V6's and the rare SFI Turbo V6.

Seriously, how much would you guys pay for a supercharger setup?

I know it's a very vague question, but say the setup would give you the average gains of approximately 60-70% in horsepower.

$1000?
$2000?
$3000?

I'm just curious. For decent, reliable power you're looking at the price of a decent V8 car...would there be any takers?

Call it a need to know...

$0.. I wouldn't take, I'd put the SC on a V8 car.

Well thats the figue I am looking for this turbo kit, without the intercooler package. 1250-1400. about 800-900 more for the intercooler package but then again you are getting a hood with that too... I know that Small Blocks can be swapped for that range but the individuality of the matter and the ability to hang or beat a 350 is funny. I am not "set" on those figures, and there will be a many options, including with out the turbo so you can add a rebuilt one yourself.

(laughs) Nah, Brian, I'll never supercharge/turbocharge this 2.8; it's not worth it (to me) for a V6. Nitrous is as far as I'd go with a power adder!

I can say I've seriously looked into pricing out a turbo for the 2.8. It was 2500 for the turbo and intercooler and the install. In addition to the turbo you would need to rebuild the engine so another 1300-2000 for a rebuild. BUT.. The company I talked to about it said they would promise the HP from the engine once completed would be close to if not higher than 400. OUT OF A V6! I do know that for the roughly 4500-5000 that I would spend for the turbo and everything else, I could easily slap a V8 in the car for alot less. It would be nice to do, but I don't think I'll ever be able to do that to my camaro..

What companies make these turbo kits and supercharger kits? I have never seen them in any of the performance parts magazines.

i would reccomend a rebuild

not to lower compression, its already low enuff

but to use some HEAVY DUTY pieces in the bottom end to support the extra force!!
