major gas leak!!
major gas leak!!
ok i was cruising home tonight(sat) and the car just shut off,,,,,then i try to start it again and white smoke rolls out from where the distributor is located,,,,then i crank it again and it barely turns over, after all this cranking i see a big puddle forming from the front part of the engine, and gas is leaking out of my mass air flow sensor,,so i'm like WTF! so if you guys can help at all it will be greatly appreaciative(i was never good at spelling)
also i did do the 2.8-3.4 swap, so something might have gome wrong from that,
thanks in advance

Gas is leaking out of your Mass Air Flow sensor?!?!?!?!
Find your fuel lines and see if they are leaking. They're routed near the front of the engine so that might have been what you saw leaking.....

no it was actually coming out of my MAF, i couldn't believe it either, but when i took off my air box, gasoline just poured out of that air intake tube/MAF, so i'm dumbfounded, and it just happend all of a suppen, my gas mileage has been great the whole time after the swap, and no engine noises were heard when the car shut off....
thanks

now sometimes i can get it started, and when it does start, there is a steady oil leak, but i havn't pen pointed the leak yet, b/c i just got it towed home after it broke back down on me about a mile away from my house, so that is the update, if anyone can help or has any ideas it would be greatly appriecative,,,,,thanks

Ok, I've got a question..how in the hell could gasoline end up in the MAF box? All that goes through it is air, right??

Ok, I have no idea why that just reposted itself..I typed something completely different. Anyhow, did you see it coming out of any tubing into the MAF? Where was it pouring in from? Or did you just see a lot of it in the thing?
Sounds like it is not firing and belive it or not the engine is getting flooded badly and pouring out of the throtle body.
yank you plugs and inspect them. replace if they need. Also they should give an indication as to what is going. Inspect all ignition componets and replace as need. Check for codes of course and resolve any codes.
Here's somthing I found at Autolite's web site to give you guide as to what you plugs should look like.

How do I "read" a spark plug?
Look at the firing tip of your spark plugs while paying close attention to the condition and color of the ceramic insulator and the metal electrodes (known as the center wire and ground wire). If you have access to an Autolite® Master Catalog, you will find a series of pictures on the inside back cover to compare your spark plugs to. If not, simply observe the color first. Light tan or gray deposits are normal, and an indication that everything is working well. If everything is very white, with glazed deposits on the insulator tip, the spark plug is too hot for the engine, or at least for the conditions for which it was used. If black sooty deposits are present, a too rich fuel mixture is likely, or the spark plugs' heat range may be too cold for the application. Shiny black or oily deposits are an indication of bad oil seals and/or piston rings, and are not an indication that the spark plugs are at fault.

update: my gas is mixing w/ my oil majorly, and i still have the leak, but i havn't determind where it is coming from, so i'm pretty sure i know it is an intake gasket, b/c in my swap i cut the part that said "do not cut" simply b/c it was much easier to install the gasket by cutting, if i wouldn't have cut it, i would of had to remove my lifters, and maybe my push rods, so i took a chance there, and i'm really sure that is what caused this to happen. SECOND is it possible for a cat to be clogged up, which could inturn of caused a build up in pressure, to make my fuel flow out of my air intake tube?(which hasn't happend since sat night) so now i will focus on doing that intake gasket and go from there, but if anyone has any more suggestions i would like to hear them thanks
