thinkin about a swap need info and opinions
i'm lookin through my new pace parts catalog and the have what is supposed to be a straight swapp for the 2.8L. ...here is the catch, its for 82-85 s10's and blazers. the engine:
3.4
160hp
194 ft. lbs@4000
"max recommended rpm 5000"
comp ratio: 9.1
Now my questions
first will this be a basic "drop in"
does the fact that its for the s10/blazer even matter?
its for automatics...i have one (200c) but its gettin replaced by a rebuilt or a(V6)700r
i don't have FI and i'm planning on getting the 4 barrel setup and a cam from summit
am i still in the clear....

Your fine. It is a direct replacement. enjoy the new 3.4.
Look through a few Chevy High performance mags to get the info you need to make a "Manual Converter lock up Switch"

I do not have my swap receipe for your project. It's misplaced since my move.
BUT
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH A 6
Go slap in a V-8 and have fun.
You have the perfect car for the project.
No Fuel Injection stuff to remove.
You should EASILY be able to do this so low cost and smog legal it's not funny!
Do a V-8 swap.
Be happy & pleased with your efforts and saved costs.

His '83 2.8 only has 90 HP...
Aluminum heads are out there, but you'll need different pistons- and you probably don't want to change the pistons out if you're buying a complete (& warranteed) crate motor.
If you call Summit and ask, they'll get you the part #'s...

90hp yikes, sucks to be me. lol
i take it 70+ hp will be enough to feel.
maybe i can make the new six push 200hp.
at that point i'll be too happy

I used search.
Really, go get a V-8 & matching tranny from the yards.
You'll be way ahead all around.
I paid $800 engine & $650 for my tranny work.
You need gas tank too for fuel pump.
And return fuel lines, etc.
