1994 3.4L T-5 into a 1982 2.8L Auto
Hello V6 gurus!
I've been doing some research across the site trying to figure out what would need to be done to put a T-5 manual transmission from a 1994 3.4L F-Body into a 1982 Camaro with a 2.8L.
I've got the transmission, bell-housing, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, and hydraulics from the 1994.
Here are my questions:

Here are my questions:
- I came across a post about the balancing of an early 2.8 being external. Do I need a different flywheel?
- Also, what crossmember would I need? Can I use the one from my TH200C or do I need one from a 83-92 V6 5-Speed?
- Speedometer; what am I looking at as far as the cable connections? Will I be able to use my current cable?
- Driveshaft; what driveshaft can I use?

1. Yes you need a flywheel from an 82-84 car
2. You need a crossmember from a manual 82-92 car
3. You should be able to remove the speedo that is in the donor trans and swap in one from the old cable driven style 82-90?
4. Get a driveshaft from a manual trans V6 3rd gen.

1. I need a flywheel from an 82-84 2.8 correct? (I'm assuming it can be from any RWD 2.8L).
2. Crossmember from a manual trans 82-92 F-Body. (I also assume V6 or V8 does not matter).
3. Swap my speedo for donor and I'll be OK.
4. Driveshaft from a manual trans 82-92 F-Body. (Again, I assume V6 or V8 does not matter).
Thanks drdave!

1. any RWD 2.8 should work
2. any crossmember
3. sorry i meant the speedo gear has to be from a manual trans, the automatic will not fit.
4. i am pretty sure any driveshaft will work, not 100% on that though. try searching around, but i dont think there was a difference in tailshafts between a V6 and V8 trans

the driveshafts are the same 82-2002, the only ones that are different and you do not want them are the v6 4th gen two piece driveshafts.
you dont need a new one
you also do not need a manual trans crossmember the automatic ones work and the mounts are cheaper.

I'm pretty sure that since I've got an '82 Camaro with the TH200C that my driveshaft will not work. I am also almost positive that my crossmember won't work either. My transmission is a different type than the 83-2002 Camaro/Firebirds.

Actually, the 2.8 was changed to internal balance in 88... Any flywheel made before that is fine (but double check the engine side of the wheel you get for the balance weight you will need). Get the driveshaft out of the donor car along with any and all brackets (but not the crossmember as you will need one from an 84-92 car, preferably the auto as the manual mounts are INSANELY expensive) including the torque arm mount and the exhaust hanger.
I have at least one cable speedo drive in my spare bolts box for the T-5 (probably 2, however). You will need to buy the gear.

As to the cable speedo drive, I may just take you up on that!
