Chasing gremlins I'm gonna replace injectors, and lower intake manifold gasket.
How difficult is this to do and realistically how long would it take?
Haven't dealt with fuel injection on cars. Always had a carb.

Re: couldn't find it in search
The first time I replaced my injectors the tear down and install took roughly 1-2 Hr. And is not to difficult. Being your first time "plan" to spend 2-3 Hrs because you need to take your time and remember how you took it all apart.
For me now., being in the cars current state with less crap under the hood I can get in and replace those things in about 15 minuets literly..
You need to:
Remove the TV, Cruise control, And throttle cable from the Throttle body.
Remove the bolt that holds the TV cable assemby to the upper intake. (10mm)
Remove the IAC and TPS signal wire connections from the Throttle body.
Remove the Vac lines from the rear of the upper intake.
Remove the 10 bolts that hold down the upper intake. 10mm(bolts) and 13mm on the studs.
Take off the stock air intake or what ever you have for a air intake from the throttle body.
Then lift off the upper intake and set her aside.
Then you will either want to discharge the fuel rail pressure by releasing the gas through the shrader valve or just when you take the fuel rail assembly off its gonna go all over but im not sure the real way to do it as I just push the shrader down with a towl above it.
Then unclip the wireing harness that connects to the fuel rail for the injectors.
Then unbolt the one bolt on the stud that is holding down the FPR. 13mm
Then Unbolt the screw that is holding the fuel lines to the bracket next to the ex. manifold on the drivers side. 8mm IIRC
Then unbolt the 2 bolts that hold down the fuel rail itself.(there on the passanger side of the cars fuel rail) 10mm
Then slowly pull the fuel rail off and be gentle with the thing.
Once you get to that point just lay it (the fuel rail) on the side of the fender well in the engine bay with a towl under it as thats easier then actually taking off the fuel lines IMO. Mine was always easy to set there, arround the window washer tank.
There are clips that are holding on the injector to the electronic harness, remove them with what ever you can just be carful and dont break or loose them. A small flat head screwdriver and needle nose pliers always work well for me.
There are also clips that hold the injector into the fuel rail. Those are sorta complicated to get back in IMO but to get them out you have to literly turn them and then pull them out. Once again dont loose them as you need to reuse them.
I would do one injector at a time as for taking them out of the fuel rail and the electronic harness so that you dont get the harnesses confused.
Then toss is all back together the way you took it off. I hope that is a somewhat good explination of how to get it done.
Hope it helps a little.

Thanks.
Also forgot to tell him, when you install the new injectors you must use some vasoline or substance such as that to lube up the new o-rings on the injectors before you put them into the fuel rail and lower intake manifold. The last thing you want to do is rip a o-ring when your putting it all together.
And for saftey sakes, when you get it all back together, prime the fuel pump before you start the car and ensure you don not have any fuel leaks.
I hope I didnt forget anything. If I did I appliogize.

Awesome thanks fasteddi.
It'll be a job that needed to be done long ago. Original injectors. Upgrading to the ford 2.9s.
sounds weird saying upgrading to ford anything. Lol.
Gonna do the lim gasket while its apart as well. It would suck to have to later take it all apart again.
Thanks again

Re: couldn't find it in search
umm fast when u spoke of the injector clips u arent removing them are u, the clips on the harness plugs. u dont pull thos eoff to remove the conector.
u press them in to the connector and the connector will pull right off.
alo tof ppl will pry those lil metal clips off the connector and generally they go flying everywere. alls u have to do is push in in the flat side and it releases the connector from the injector. then to reinstall u just push the connector back on
u press them in to the connector and the connector will pull right off.
