VSS - What's the right one
Been getting a code 24 and getting ready to order a new VSS. There are 2 AC Delco VSS for my '92 3.1L T5. The $100 one has a tab on the side and the $62 one doesn't. Will either work fine or do I need the one with the tab.

Auto Warehouse shows both fit my car.
Thanks for any clarification anyone can provide.

Re: VSS - What's the right one
You need to make sure that the VSS is the correct one for your T5. They are hard to come by, and most listings don't specify auto or manual trans. They are not interchangeable... and also there are both 2-pulse and 4-pulse units. I believe you need the 4-pulse unit for your year car.

Oops. I apologize. That was the wrong sensor. The one in the link above is for a 4L60 (I should have checked that first). The T-5 one looks just like it except it has a smaller base where it enters the tail housing.

Re: VSS - What's the right one
Thanks ternandes. Didn't know it was so complicated to get the right part.
Maverick, thanks for the correction. I haven't ordered a VSS yet and you saved me from sending parts back and forth.
BTW - my low income son-in-law called to tell me his 1993 Taurus wouldn't start and car was stranded in a parking lot. I'm a barely adequate mechanic on my Firebird let alone his FWD car. Packed up some tools and jumped battery and would barely try to turn over engine. Figured it was starter, but took battery to Advance Auto to check. Yep, it was good. Jacked up car, found & pulled starter after running back home to get deep well sockets for one strange bolt. Took starter to Advance to be tested. $131 later I got a rebuilt starter and installed in Ford. Except, one of the nuts on a solenoid terminal was missing. Another trip to Advance to get a nut off the old starter. Finished up after dark using flashlights. At least, son-in-law expressed sincere gratitude.
So, if anyone wants to buy me the correct VSS and install, I promise to be very grateful. LOL

Never mind, it's too long a drive from Moneta to Richmond. Been a while since I've been in your part of the state. Love those mountains.
