Double roller timing chain?

I know they make a double roller timing chain for the 3.1L...... but what exactly would have to be modified to fit it and would there be any real benefits of it?

Re: Double roller timing chain?

i knew it would fit but it says something about having to modify the damper? I'm not even entirely sure what that part is

Re: Double roller timing chain?

I do not believe that you have to modify anything, when I bought my 89 2.8, it already had one of these. Don't know how old it was but it was stretched like hellll. Went back to single tooth and no problem since, about 80,000 miles on it.

Being that I dont know how it is when its new, does it even make a difference?

Re: Double roller timing chain?

would I have to change out the gears though because would I need a double gear or something like that for it?

Re: Double roller timing chain?

also, from what i have read in the past, if you get a double, as the chain starts to stretch, it will make the timing go off farther than a single, do to the mass of the chain, and the friction of the chain on the sprockets
