which wire for setting timing ?

which wire for setting timing ?

Hi, I looked before but cannot work out which wire I need to disconect to set my base timing, all the wire colours I read dont seem to match up so heres a pic can some one just point it out to me, very grateful thanks !

It's neither of those.

The wire you want to disconnect is a tan w/ black stripe wire. I believe the connector is nearer the heater fan, it may be tucked into the loom.

On S10s it's above the passenger side foot well, so if you can't find it in teh engine compartment look near the ECM, in the passenger compartment.

Aw man see where my confusion comes from, I was always told its around there hanging out like that but the colours never match what I got !

Haha they both look the same. I remember I couldn't find that wire when I needed to set the timing. Searched for days.

Its strange theyve got all these conectors half way through the loom, now I wonder what the other two are used for . Anyways at least I can check my timing now.

The single white wire connector is for the dash tachometer. Note how it comes from the ignition coil.

The red wire looks to be power for something, what I don't know.

Clarifying:

Red wire is direct power feed for high speed blower relay... Not used in later harnesses as this wire is in the 4 (2) wire connector next to it with the blue and black wires in it...
