got rearended yesterday....

can't believe it, but i was on may way out to eat with some friend ands this woman rolls into me coming off the highway. i was like "you got to be kidding me". so i get out and look and some how (she was driving a jeep cherokee) she managed to chip the paint and crack the clearcoat right off. she had been on her cell phone and was fumbling around for something in the car and though i went and rolled right into me. fortunately she was cool, and is more than willing to right me a check for whatever its worth. the other good thing is that the front end of my car was gonna get repainted in march anyway because someone hit me last year. so i am contemplating a few things.

my rear defroster lines are totally dried out and shot. so figure now that since my bumper needs to repainted, why not replace the rear window and paint the whole car? whats the deal with the third break light anway? my bird has one, how hard will that be able to find do ya think?

and my entire front end is being repainted, fenders, nose and all being faded into the hood. wondering if is should just buy an ascd ram air hood for the hell of it. love the way they look!!

so for a summary she just turned 100,000 and no problems at all, runs beautifully. and i just might be selling her at some point next year (hopefully for a fourth gen, but thats still a dream right now 99-2000) since this is my first car that i will be selling, painting it is a must.....she is a beautiful car. but i am wondering if i should dump money into appearance mods if i am gonna be selling it anyway. i know its my decision, just wondering what some of you would do....considering mile, and selling it perhaps....so whacha think?

happy holidays.....DAMN WOMAN DRIVERS

Yeah, I sort of hear you on this. I am going to run my car for onemore year (april till Sept months) then I am going to part with it. But I am hoping to see it go what I paid for it, 1200. But I am in the opposite problem it seems. I think I will have to go older or buy the same year car again for cheap with alot of simple work like brakes, gas lines, maybe even motor (3.4 conversion ), I have to because of University. I was trying to sell it this year. But I figured it out and have enough money to make it through first year .

But if you do plan on selling it do appearance mods but nothing wallet breaking. It would be the best way to get your money back out of it. But really a paint job on a V-6 isn't going to get you alot more for it. Maybe that is just my opinion. But that seems to be the way it goes up here.

I would say have a quick paint job, clean interior, a good waxing. And it will see quick. mods liek the K&N filter on yours looks really professional. That will help sell it. Good luck on the decision.

Your an idiot. She rolled right into you. How the **** do you figure you are gonna repaint the whole car, fix your rear hatch window and *** knows what else. You gonna ask her to write you a check for $4,000???? Riiiiiiiight, repaint the damage she made and save up for the rest. Dont try to con it out of someone.

Edit: if I have misread it then forgive me. Its been a hard day and Im pissed.

monkie.....hahah.....i was real pissed at you for a second....lol! you def misread it.

nah, the whole front end has been replaced, nose & fenders and is being sprayed anyway in about may (its all primer black right now). a friends brother is gonna paint it, does great work....so i guess the ? i am asking myself is, why just spray all the way up to the doors & and then the back bumper?? thats already like half the car. i guess thats why i'm askin'. never had to make the decision before, so of course right now i am thinkin' just do the whole car. its black so the waves and scratches tend to get on your nerves. just want you to understand the only thing i am gonna ask her for is like the 150 to repaint the bumper. i am completely planning on paying for the hatch and etc on my own. i am gonna get an estimate for the bumper and then let her know. the rest will come out of my pocket. i def wouldn't con someone like that. hope your holiday gets a little better!!

Joe_L, i hear ya. the guy who will paint will does nice work, i have seen some cars he has done. of course it will cost more than the macco special for like 250....but i just wouldn't trust my car at macco. anywho, if i do decide to sell it i know it won't be that easy cause it is a 6, clean in and out though. my other problem is that i am really hung up on the gt auto accessories hood. decision, decisions. guess it all comes down to money and timing. but appreciate the input. how much do you put in when you kow you'll never get it back.....hahah, what a hobby!!

SAEspinz80, sorry man. Alot of **** has gone wrong with my car in the past week. Well two things. Dash has a HUGE stress crack and need a new fog light bulb. And on top of that I have worked 31 hours on my feet for the past 3 days. Sorry again for misreading it.

Hey if you're looking to replace the rear glass surely you are tlaking used, but just for the record, a friend of mine works at a dealership and just put a new hatch into a camaro for some woman(insurance job, all new parts), he said the rear hatch is like $3000.00!!!!!

yea, maybe 3,000 after all the body work. a new rear glass is somewhat around 750.00 to 800.00 (its ridiculous). i won't be buying it new thats for damn sure. but thanks for the info. fortunately there is not body work that needs to be done, the car is straight all around....just contemplating on painting the whole car or part of the car and in the process replacing the rear glass. but thanks, i think i will be checking out some junk yards.

I was rear ended when I had my '86 'Bird. Some cute girl in a Honda Prelude. Totally FUBAR'ed the front of the Honda, anti-freeze all over the ground, headlights smashed, grill GONE, and all it did to my 'Bird was it ripped one of the rubber exhaust hangers from where the Honda went under my bumber. I though for sure from the impact that my bumper was shoved in! The F-bodys must of been made pretty good I drove away, she got towed!
