1992 firebird 3.1 help

Hi guys, I have a 92 firebird v6, I did a fuel pressure test on my car and its getting 39 psi, and it is getting spark, sometimes I can get it started for about 8 seconds then dies, it runs rough, I think there is a weak fuel pump, I don't see how it can stay or start running on 39 psi, I use to once a week let the car run for 10 mins as it is not good to let it just seat there, when the fuel got low I would get a gas can and put 5 gals in, this went on for about 5 weeks, after a while when I started the car it run rough, while I replace the fuel filter then It just got worse and wouldn't start, I hope this made since.

Original fuel injectors? 39PSI is close enough. Stock Multecs in 2019 would be a lot more likely failure.

Re: 1992 firebird 3.1 help

Is the car being driven ? Or sitting? Seriously they need to be used to keep them going , a full tank of gas and injector cleaner and a good run , it might just clear up . Is the computer throwing any codes ?

I had a similar problem. It was the injectors. I got some from Southbay and it started up and ran fine after.

Re: 1992 firebird 3.1 help

It's pretty easy. You just take the top half of the manifold off, 8-10 screws? take the air intake off the TB, and I think it's 4 screws for the fuel rail. I didn't even disconnect the feel and return lines to the rails, I just flipped the rail assembly over to the DS fender and rotated the injector clips.

South bay, a site supporting vendor. If you tell them you are with TGO you get 10% off. Link is on the side bar --->

Piece of cake .I have done it so many times. I can have it tore down to the manifold in less than 5 mins flat. What I do to remove injectors is not even bother with the fuel lines. Just leave them connected and remove the 2 bolts holding the fuel rail down and simply flip the fuel rail over with lines and all towards the driver side and remove injectors that way. I can swap injectors in 10 mins flat.

There are little clips that you have to 1/4 turn in the rail to get the injector out. I mentioned that in my other reply.
