Supercharger questions
If i was to supercharge my 2.8l v6 1988 camaro, what would be the best option. I was looking at the eaton m62 supercharger because it works with my displacement, but i don’t know how i would fit it onto my engine. Is there any good options to supercharge my v6 and if so, are there any tips for fabrication or are there any known kits or already done instillations that other people have done as a guide.

I find your ideas intriguing and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
I would love a bit more output from my 2.8 also.
What would be involved in such an upgrade? Are bolt on parts available?

Re: Supercharger questions
Unfortunately, supercharger/ turbo kits don't really exist premade for our 60deg motors, but there have been some folks who've made it happen in the past with a fair amount of fabrication. There's a thread on this site, believe in the TPI section, where someone took an Eaton M90 and mounted it off to the side of their SBC, with the pulley sitting inline with the rest of the belt drive, and the air coming out the top into a front mount intercooler. It was piped up like a turbo essentially, mounted on the passenger side in place of the AC compressor. You might be able to get away with something similar without tuning, but it likely wouldn't run quite right, and you wouldn't be able to get the full benefit out of the SC. You should also check out some of the Fiero forums, like Pennock's, they have a lotta folks who build up 60degs. There is also the 60degreeV6.com forums, lots of good info there. Most of what I've seen as far as power adders on the V6 here on TGO deals with turbos, can't recall seeing much about supercharger swaps.
If you can fabricate a mount for the supercharger and get the air from the outlet into your motor, you'll be most of the way there, but tuning is likely going to be the biggest challenge. Also keep in mind that the gen 1 iron heads don't flow the best, but folks like FastEddi have still managed to make power with the stock head/ intake setup (with a turbo). There IS a supercharger kit from Milzy Motorsports here for mounting an M90 onto a motor with Gen 3 aluminum heads, but it runs about 3k and means you'd need to do the 3x00 hybrid top end swap as well (theres pinned threads on the hybrid swap at the top of the forums here if you wanted to browse that, not sure if I can truly recommend the SC kit for that price though).
You ALSO could maybe grab an intake for an earlier carbed 2.8 f-body, believe Edelbrock makes an aftermarket "performer" intake for the gen 1 iron head V6 as well that you could probably adapt to use a blower. You'd lose fuel injection, but may be easier to tune....
Edit: found the M90 SBC install I mentioned earlier here . You can see pics of the install starting at post #7, same idea can be applied to a 2.8

Re: Supercharger questions
I supercharged my 3.4l-swapped '91 Firebird a few years ago. I removed the smog pump and installed a Vortech V3 in its place. Since that post, I've dropped the pulley size and am making about 6.5 PSI max boost. The build has over 12,000 miles on it and has been trouble-free so far! Other than the supercharger, you'll also need larger fuel injectors and a way to tune the car. Flashing ROM chips or installing a Dynamic EFI system are the two ways to tune the stock fuel injection system. A wide-band 02 sensor is also very helpful I went through 2 different wide-band systems that turned out to be inaccurate and failed very quickly. I finally settled on a Spartan 3 v2 from 14point7.com and that has been reliable so far... Knock on wood.

Re: Supercharger questions
I added a Rotrex supercharger in place of the air pump. I had to fabricate everything, and am running a liquid intercooler. I am going to run a Holley system to tune it because it bucks under boost. I have been running it for 2 years but back off under boost.

Re: Supercharger questions
Ahhh I had forgotten about centrifugal superchargers, having fun lookin through your build thread again Shadow. I always forget about Prochargers/ Vortechs/ Rotrex units because the prices always scare me off
love how the smog pump mount works out for them though, pretty slick. It'd be cool to see your setup as well Dana, always love seeing the 60degs get some love

Re: Supercharger questions
The price was pretty similar to a turbo install when I crunched the numbers. I bought the full Vortech kit off a crashed Mustang for $1,000 and sold off all the pieces I didn't need. I think the total cost for the supercharger, intake pipes, and blow-off valve ended up being around $700. With injectors, bracket, and other odds & ends I think the supercharger install came out around $1,500. That was pre-covid though, so I'm sure it would cost a lot more now.
Did something similar for the 3.4l swap too. I basically got the new engine for free once I sold off the extras

Re: Supercharger questions
Good lookin install Dana, cool that you were able to keep AC on it! Hope the ECU swap goes smoothly for you, that car is gonna be a ton of fun
Re: Supercharger questions
Thanks, the only thing I had to do to the belts was run the alternator just off the water pump. It originally rand from the crank and the water pump, it would have been in the way of the supercharger. This car did not come with ac, I added it on. It is a fun car it is a 5 speed, it will be more fun one I tune it.
