I would've pushed Splitfires (and still will for a stock ignition), I've used 'em for years with no problems with just an aftermarket coil & wires- but check out my newest post about "EGR and prep for smog test".

Splitfires do.. I had 4 go bad in tow years when I bought into that gimmick.... Stock AC Delco have always worked the best for me..
I have an Accel Box, MSD Coil, Crane 8.8MM Fire Wires and I would not ever put any platiunum plugs in the car. 99 cents and every year I put new ones in for FUN!!!

I personally have had the best luck with the AC Delco Rapidfire plugs. I use them in all my vehicles and every one has responded positively (even my wife's Geo Metro). Plus there made by AC to satisfy the "use stock parts" philosophy and has a platinum tip (new design -- the old design had a star shaped electrode) for the Platinum/aftermarket crew.

Odd; I never had a set of Splitfires foul on me; and I've been running them (except for one year with Accel U-grooves) since 1994. They might've had the wrong heat range for your year of engine. By going thru the Splitfire application charts, they didn't follow GM's exact heat range change. I have the file somewhere; don't want to look it up, but GM changed the heat range twice for our engine's spark plugs. They changed it once in '85, and back again around '88.
My car travles 170 miles a day and when I was using the stock replacment plugs I had to change them every month. After switching over to the splitfires in March of last year I have only gone through one set. I went through the one set becuase I used to have a habit of lugging the engine this caused the electrode get blown off. Other then that I clean them once every 3 months. ! month of driving for me = 680 miles plus 100 or so for weekend driving. I would say that they hold up pretty dam good.
