GM's new 6cylinders
I was wondering what other 6Cylinders would fit our car. I saw many different V6's put into Fieros and was wondering if those can also fit in our cars. I know the 3.4 from 4th gen can fit but I saw a twin cam 3.4? put into a Fiero. I also wanna discuss the new inline 6 cylinder used in the new TrailBlazers and Envoys. GM might have a twin turbo version of that engine. It was in a magazine and was rated at around 400 hp? Would that fit inside our engine bays? I'm just pondering all the possibilities that can be done to our V6 f-bods with out going and putting a V8 in.
I can almost guarantee that the new 4.2L inline six would not fit in a thirdgen. It's an overhead cam motor and it's very tall......that doesn't go well with the low, sloping hood of an F-body.
Besides, i've driven a few of them and I'm not that impressed. They just lack the low end grunt of a V8.
The X motor.......3.4 DOHC available in W-bodies and a few other cars in the early to mid 90's. It's a physically large motor for a V6 and I also doubt it would fit in a thirdgen easily. Plus, the Throttle Body is facing the rear of the motor so it wouldn't work in a RWD application.
Basically, the RWD 3.4 OHV is the only option for a "drop in" motor. Everything else requires a different tranny or some fab work.

100% correct.
I was offered a DOHC 3.4.
I looked at pics.
I found my 3.4 for $800 & had it running RIGHT in a month of working with a herion addicted jerk.
It was his shop I was at.
I coulda had it done in about 2+ weeks if he wasn't such a space case.
Don't do drugs.
Wanna be a "TrailBlazer"
enjoy the mission.
ONLY real mission I'd tackle/consider would be a 3.8 from a Buick GNX.
Beyond that, as Wayne said, I've got a Super Sleeper, that is very dependble and easy to work on. Cause it's the correct option for an upgrade/blown engine.
Dan, when ya ready for your 3.4, give a shout!

the 3.8 or 4.3 should fit under the hood, but with all the stuff ud have to change, it would cost as much as a v8 swap.. bang for the buck - 3.4 ohv (l36) is ur best bet.
