I just noticed I have a swaybar on my car !
Lastnight , I was thumbing through my Summit catalogue .I was looking at this bar thing , did not know what it was at first , and I thought " this looks just like a part on the front of my car .I just went outside and looked at it , then looked at the mag again . Sure enough my 88 rs 2.8 came with a sway bar . My car was only made in limited amounts in 88 .It's an "RS" .They never made them regularly then .They had a "Camaro with ground effects" and differnt spoiler than mine .I read somewhere that these "RS" models that were produced in 88 were the same thing as the IROC , but didn't come with the 305 or 350 . ....I just thought this was interesting wanted to post it guys . What else am I suppose to have on this car that I dont know about ? ? ?
p.s. I know the original owner did not put this on there b/c he was a 75 year old man , i mean come on lol . Then the last owner that I bought the car from was a chick from Brazil .The car had no mods when I bought it .Chances are real slim that she just put on a sway bar and did nothing to the motor .

i believe every thirdgen came witha sway bar, only IROCs got the wonderbar, but they all got a sway bar. the only real difference in models s/c, rs, z-28, and IROC were the diameter i think, unless someone can tell me they don't have one, and post a pic maybe. theyre very important to the cars handling dynamic and also work similarly to a strut tower brace, by stiffening the chassis to a degree.
Just about every car in the world has some form of an antisway bar on the front suspension. It wasn't optional on thirdgens. However, rear sway bars weren't included on some thirdgens.

Nope 82 LG4 firebird base model (same crap as the highoutput though)
It did not come with an anti sway bar the A/S holes were not even threaded
But an 87 V6 5speed firebird had the cure for that problem along with a 3:42 rear end to boot. $100

I'll be damned! my car must be special, I've got 2! one in front and one in back.
sorry wayne the '88 rs is the same as a '88 v6 sport coupe, just different badging. nothin' special about it (really)
though I'd like to have a '87 or '88 RS w/ 5-speed, just to be special, besides, It's different, everyone was running around with sport coupes with and without groune effects, then here's this v6 "RS" that looks like an IROC.
I think that's why the '88 SC looks like a z/28 rather than a IROC. cuz the limited RS's already did look like an IROC.

the spoiler is differnt on the outside .the interior is not he same either
I didn't mean that. I meant that it's not ALOT different that the average person. other than the GFX color and the black headlight buckets. as far as I know, they had the 3-peice spoiler, whereas most SC's in '88 had the shorty wing, but still many came with the 3-piece too.
I'd love to see an interior pic, because I've never seen one. What's different about a '88 RS interior?

They changed the spoiler mid-year in '88. The early ones came with the shorty spoiler and the later ones came with the 3-piece. Mine is a sport coupe with the 3-piece.

I pointed out some of the features of my '88 SC here on this picture. The front bumper isn't original. It had the slotted grille from the factory.

I discussed this once I think with willie, and it's not really ducumented but it seems that they started with the "wing" maybe ran out or something, went back to the "3-piece" spoiler, then again went back to the "wing"
my car was the 73,333rd in production, so it's near the latter part of the year. but still MOST 88's SC's had the shorty "wing"
