Great weekend

I put my new radio in... wow! It's a Pioneer, and has all the goodies, including MP3 playback (like I'll ever use that!)- I can't believe how much it woke up my speakers. Plus, it's XM ready, so one of these days...

Right on. Yeah a new deck can really boost your speakers. Lots of people think they can use there old deck all they need is speakers, when infact if you do the deck first your better off.

MP3 playback, don't you love buying things with 2000 features, of which 5 you use...lol

What amazed me is that I run my speakers (all Pioneer) through an external amp! It's even my "old" amp, a Blaupunkt 4x20RMS guy. (I yanked my system for last year's vacation trip and never put it back.) I figured the sound was limited by my amp- and man, was I wrong. I'm glad, too! I helped a friend install a similar unit (a few levels lower than mine) in his truck, and it made his stock paper cone speakers come alive! I remember hearing it and thinking "damn, too bad mine won't sound this good; maybe I'll remove that amp and run the speakers right off the radio"- I'm glad I didnt'! That radio's a dream, it has so many settings and crossovers and filters on it- no more climbing in the trunk to make a small adjustment!!

Oh, and RPS, I actually have a fiber-optic connection! I don't really hate OR like MP3's; I never messed with them. (And I never went to Napster, either!) Seems like too much trouble to me.. I don't want to click to download a song, or find songs I want, or etc- I'd rather just buy a CD. But... good point- I never thought about putting a ton of songs on one CD. On my vacation drives, I usually bring 15 or so CD's, and only listen to a few songs off of each. Hm. Maybe I'll have to hop on this MP3 craze after all, eh?

Yeah , its amazing how much a new stereo can wake up a car .
I've had three aftermarket ones in my car senve I have had it . FIRST -pioneer tapedeck , like it . SECOND-kenwood tapedeck THIRD - just got this one last year - JVC cd player , and if I told you I still had the original DELCOS in the car , you would never belive me ! Then I put some optimus tweeters in my car and WOW ! its like surround sound . I got free JBL speakers with it , but never put them in , don't know how , and hated to ask my cusion sence he was already putting in my tweeters in .

Hehe, sort of.. you can see the *** end of it at my website for the engine swap- http://www.geocities.com/tomp_3rdgen - I have absolutely no time to get a site running now. Maybe when spring break rolls around... I have tons of pictures ready to be scanned.

Thanks! I like what that Eric guy wrote about my car, hehe! Looks like nobody really complained about geocites.com being slow or crappy yet; maybe that's who I'll use for my "real" webpage.
