The shifter from a V8 5-speed should work just fine.

BTW: The only difference between the V8 and V6 manual transmissions is the bellhousing and input shaft.

HURST!
GEORGE HURST!
Also the inventor of the "Jaws of Life" rescue tool used all over the world.
He saw a need during 60's stock car race accidents on cars that carried his product, shifters, brake calipers, wheels.
George Hurst designed, built & sold that Jaws tool.
Anyone on Street Road in Warminster, PA do a smokey in front of the old Hurst Plant!

I sold the Door for $55

Remote Control Mirror and all hardware for $55
I invested $20 to purchase these parts.

If the 4-banger's got a manual trans, it's got a 3.73/open/drum rear... you could put your brake lines and brake parts on that 3.73/open/drum axle, since they're probably in better shape.

LUCKY $HIT!
I had to pass on a 1977 Firebird in PRIMO shape for $350.
I have to many projects right now anyway.
How fast would a 3:73 Limit me, top speed?
Right now I figure I get up to 105+
I do like 3:42's but a bit more pick up would be FUN!
3:73's behind four cylinders is a good deal? Quality wise? They tend to be in nice condition?
I pass by those 4 cylinder F bodies all the time!
And I can put these Firebird current 3:42 in my Blazer. The Blazer gears have 211,500 miles on them. Kinda high pitched whine noise back there.
