exhaust question

Hey guys, My dads friend called me up and said he knows some one that is selling there flowmaster for $150, the guy used to have a bunch of camaro's and he sold them all and he is sellin the flowmaster seperate. My dads friend believes its the full cat-back system and i'm sure it comes with everything that I would need, I still have to find out some more specifics. If it is for the whole cat-back system plus tips and everything do you guys think its worth it? If I was going to buy a brand new system I think I would go with dynomax because I heard it sounds better on a V6. Do you guys think this is a good deal for the flowmaster?

Thanks, Ted

For exhaust pieces, I'd rather buy new, especially because of rust, but it's up to you. $150 seems steep for a used system to me. Now, maybe if it was all stainless steel, yeah, but sounds like that should be a $50 system. Especially when $160 gets you a new Dynomax system. Check the price for WLK-17493 at http://www.summitracing.com . But the Dynomax won't come with tips.

Above all, just make sure the system bolts up to yours. Take a look at it before you buy it.

Thanks Tom, with sound, does the flowmaster sound bad on a V6? Because if it sounds bad then I won't bother with it. I want loud exhaust, but not something that is so loud that it sounds bad.

I had a flowmaster for about 3 months. It was cool for about a week, then it drove me insane so I hacked it off and went back to stock. In my opinion it didn't sound great. Idle was cool but thats it.

I do not like the flowmaster on my 2.8
Maybe when I slip a 3.4 under the Blazer hood, my Flowmaster will sound better.
Kinda doubt it.
Wish Flowmaster had a lifetime warranty, I'd return mine.
$150, he better install it, too! for that price.

Hey guys, I told my dads friend to tell the guy that I don't want it. I told him that I can buy a brand new system thats better for my car for $160, so we'll see if the guy lowers the price or whatever. I have another question for you guys though. I have a parts car which is either an 86 or 87 Z28. I used the body parts to fix my car and the interior is ripped, it has a rusted out ford block sitting in it and has no title, so theres no hope of ever using it for more then a parts car. I noticed the exhaust on it and it has I think an aftermarket system on it, but i'm not sure. I have off next week and while this car is at my dads friends shop (he's taking the front suspension for his Nova) I'm gonna cut the muffler and pipes off and possibly put it on my car, maybe my car will be louder with this muffler, its not really rusted from what I can see. So what do you guys think?

Ted

I like the sound through the flowmasters on my 95 3.4L, it gives you the feel and sound of a classic muscle car. Granted, aside from some minor HP boost, it is all about sound. But Camaros should sound like they look, TOUGH!

ZMost certaily can try.
BUT you are in moisture area.
California ia pretty rust free.
We'd have a better chance of a good exhaust on an abandonded car out here.
That's what I'm doing.
I have a 1990 Z-28 I'm taking the intermediate pipe from. Adding a Hi Po FLo V-6 pipe from engine to cc.
I wish I owned a muffler shop for just a couple hours!!

I'll have to go with Karl and the other guys on this one . I had a flowmaster and just gotten to hate it ! It was kinda cool at first , but I was still not that satisfied . I love my dynomax !!!! Kinda sounds like a V8 at idle to .
