Please post som pictures of 16 inch Torq Thrust II's.

I have searched the forum for pictures of this, but mostly found pictures of the 17 inch ones. Since I broke one of my formula wheels, and the price for getting 1 new is about the same as 4 of the TT II's, I guess I will buy the new ones. I tried to get just one used one, but it was impossible to get one here in Norway, or scandinavia alltogether.

The thing is I have brand new tires, also there will be an additional cost involved getting the 17 inch tires aswell. At the moment i shelled out most of what I had on the car, just 2 weeks ago, and had'nt planned on new rims now, nor do I have the money for it. Actually I have to take most of the money for this summers weekations fund to get them, but if I dont, i cant even drive the car. And that would definetly block of the weekation, since we planned on a cross country car trip.

So now i hope it would'nt be too lame with these rims in only 16 inches, but if you have any pictures from your 16 inch equipped cars, that would be great!

I have the standard 245/50-16 dimension on my tires all round, would it be okey to use the TT II's in 16 x9 in the rear and 16 x8 up front? Or would that hurt the road capabilities? I mostly run this car on windy roads, so the road holding capabilities is the thing i value the most.

But Some pictures of them sixteen-inchers would be great!

I thought of the added inch on the rear to perhaps go with an 275/50-16 the next time. But perhaps mostly because it looks a bit cooler when the rear ones are a bit wider. But will it be e problem when still used with only the 245/50-16 tires?

Oh, and I almost forgot; Do you guys have to polish these wheels frequently? This car is my daily driver so its not a very good idea to have to polish the wheels really thoroughly every time I wash the car.

Kjetil

honestly they look so much better in a 17. why not save up until you can afford the larger price tag? if you think 17's are bad don't go anywhere near the 18's.

I just got in some mails from different parts suppliers with the price for these 16x8 rims here in Norway.

They vary from $ 565,70 + everything to $ 720,88 + center cup + lugnuts + freight charge.

EACH!!

That's kinda steep... and that's not even with tires...

So a total of app. $ 2400 includet everything needed, but not tires.

<Update> I have to decide on this before friday morning to be able to have them next week, so it would be very good to see some pictures before that.>

Well, pictures will be appreciated of them 16 incher ones.

Thanks for the reply.

Stock Size!!!!

Stock 245/50/16's right here. I like the way they look and was not about to replace tires with 1,000 miles on them.

I know the pics are not the best and I plan on taking some new pics soon ... IF IT EVER STOPS RAINING IN NEW YORK!!!!!!

Okey!!
They lokked kinda cool...
I guess they look more than cool enough.

So last thing has to be getting the correct backspacing.
Lots of people have asked this, but not for the 16x8 ones.

I guess the original backspacing is smartest? Or do I go for a wider stance out back?

Anyhow, what exactly is the original backspacing?

Thanks alot for the picture and reply!
Appreciate it alot!!

I ordered them from a local tire place. I know they were 16x8. The only other measurements I can remember is 5/4.75 which I think is the offset numbers but I could be wrong. That sound right?

Thanks! I thought the "5" was for the kugs but wasn't quite sure of the "4.75". I guess the offset would be stock but I don't know what that is!!!!

As far as I know, there should be a different backspacing on the front and rear, hence the front rims cant be used on the back.

But is this necessary?

Why its like this I dont know, I even dont know if it really matters or not. I have experienced this before on other rear wheel drive cars, like volvo 240 ( my first car), and it make it all look kind of silly because of the narrover stance out back.

The coolest thing would absolutely be if the rims where more outward on the back, but This would probably hurt the road holding capability.

Does anyone know?

Anyhow, we still need to know the original backspacing...

Hehe...cool!!
Here in Norway it wasn't, and still not, possible to get a decent, 15 year old american v8 equipped car for under 15 grand, so a volvo is almost like the next best thing over here.

I thought it was cool that volvo, the one I had had a police special engine, and a Volvo R-sport suspension package. That car really handled!

Had my fair deal of police pursuits in that car...hehe.

Oh, well, as funny and cool as it was, on my eleventh police getaway I actually got cought, and was thrown right in the slammer! Not so cool I guess....;-)

Got 2 weeks in jail for that instance actually, and lost my drivers licence 2 times. Guess I wasn't surpriced of the jail sentence, because they where 4 police cars chasing that volvo at the peak of the fun. The police actually confiscated the car, saying "It is a danger to society" But I got it back after a couple of months.

I think what nagged them was how could my volvo be so much faster than their identical, but not race prepped cars like mine was.

It ended up that I concluded I just had to sell that car, it was really just to fun to be able to control myself when the police tried to stop me.

A real solid car also. I guess the most insane stunt i had with that car, was an evening when I already had lost my licence, and had a couple of beers also, when we suddenly got the cops in the back. We tried to accelerate a little bit away from them each time we got arond a bend or turn. It worked for a while, but then suddenly they smacked on the blue lights. After that there was no turning back.

After missing a freeway feeding-lane bacause of the high speed and the tires locking up in just total smoke, we got into a dead end road on a industrial site. At that time good advice would be a bargain, - suddenly my passenger said "Look! There's a narrow road down that hill" I looked and saw some tire tracks just ending on the top of this hill. I thought " Let's GO FOR IT" And slammed the shifter in second and floored it...at the moment we where at the edge we both realized, way too late, at full throttle and rpm in second, that it wasn't a road at all...it actually was just an edge where they tossed industrial garbage down.

This didnt do us much of a problem at the time, bacause we where actually up in the air, and a few but very long seconds later, we landed on the right tyre and just slammed down and jumped almost uncontrolled downwards that hill. After the garbage there was some kind og steep field down, with lots of deep water made cracks going down the hill, and i concluded that it would be wise to shift to third and floor it to not get stuck there in the mud or cracks.

Eventually we humped and dumped down the hill, which leaded to a sidewalk and after a while a road, and as we did a little jump down to the road, we took a little second to look back after the police, and they just stood there on the edge looking after us...then I hit second, and floored it again and headed home, bye bye to the police i guess ;-)

The volvo got a littlet twisted after that, it was alot higher on the right front...no wonder..hehe. But it still worked, and was a daily driver. But after inspecting tha car more closely, most of thefront subframe and suspension was severly bent in several directions. Had to buy some used parts after that, but then it went through the inspection.

I hear that they shoot after you when you try this in the US. Is that so?

I think they shoot at your tires and ONLY if they feel you present a danger to yourself and others. You've got to be pretty far gone to reach that point. Police are extremely careful at how they use their firearms these days.

Okey, well on my escapades i never touched another car or put a pedestriant in danger in any way. But that was just coincidence i guess. Actually sometimes i had to stop because of traffic.

But anyway, how about that backspacing..;-)

Maybe Im better off posting a new post about that backspacing... actually I find it hard to get a reply on any post on this forum, maybe it's beacuse i write awkward or something.

Did you have some other fun times with your Volvo?
