bad front end shake

i recently put the skinnies on the front of my car with the moroso ds-2 tires and i was driving last nite and hit a bump and the whole front of the car went into real bad tire shake until i slowed down. the front suspension is tight, is this an alignment issue?

Re: bad front end shake

maybe you hit the bump good enough to knock off a wheel weight and its not balanced. that what i would think of get them balanced, mine did the same thing a few years back

u may of had a case of bumpsteer! I have had it happen at the drag strip about 100 feet out and its a freeky feeling. im going to try some solid tierod sleaves and have a drag race alignment done. some where i have the recomended specs.

Re: bad front end shake

Did u hit Brakes at all? i had it happen to me before. i had bad tie rod ends, and center link, so if i speed up really fast, and then barely tap my brakes, whole front end would just shake violently , until i slow down!
if it only happened to you once, then i wouldnt worry about! Its is definitely not an alignment issue! bad alignment would just cause ur tires to wear faster, not shake.

Re: bad front end shake

doesnt do it when i hit the brakes, only if i hit a bump a certain way, like if i just clip it. its done it twice on two different occasions. im just wondering its bump steer cuz of the bias ply on the front?? im thinkin just put a bump steer kit on it and having it aligned??

Re: bad front end shake

i'm bumping this one back to the top, i had some terrible bump steer last night at the track. the car would leave with the fronts about a foot off the ground, and when it set them back down it would try to shake the steering wheel out of my hand. one time it was bad enough that i actually lifted. i just had the front end aligned and i'm wondering if having too much camber/caster is effecting it...i was thinking maybe that you could just shove the strut mounts back in toward the motor and the problem would go away.
