A spacer slides over your studs. You have to get longer studs to make them work properly. An adapter has 5 holes just like a wheel to bolt to your hub AND it's own set of lugs coming from that to bolt you're wheel to.

Is it a must to have adapters? I have y2k rims and want to mount them on it.

yes, it makes up for the different back spacing on the vette rims. I have 2 inch adapters/spacers all four wheels.

I don't even know if they make a 2" spacer. If they did, you'd have to have some pretty long wheel studs to make that work. And even if you did, that would be putting a lot of lateral stress on that long of a stud. Check around on Craigslist for a set. I bought my Y2ks for $100, Tires for $80, and Adapters for $100, all from Craigslist, all within 20 miles of me. I'm in the middle of Iowa too, not really known for it's car scene.

Here's mine:

Re: Got Vette Wheels??...Post pics here...!

They are really called adapters. You will find them all over fleebay. If you look you will see they bolt to hub/axle and they have their own lug nuts. With all the postings on this subject and you still don't understand it, you better stay away from doing it. You take old wheel off bolt on adapter on, then put The new wheel on. Bolting it to adapter.

Larry-that's a pretty different looking front end on your car in that pic. You got any more of it up close?

Anyone know what size adapter would be need on the front with a big brake upgrade using the 1le hub? I know 2 inch would be too big, so im thinking 1.5??

The wheel backspace sets what size adapter you need. I.E. the c5 wheels on my TA needed 2inch to bring them out to clear the inside wheel well.

It is a Knight Rider bumper with a ram air 1 hood. Stock fenders.

thanks guys. its a light weight wheel made in italy out of magnezium. light and strong. very rare to get wheels made out of this. burns white hot when you light them on fire
found on mid 2000 corvettes.

Anybody have pics of open spoke Vette rims with stock brakes? I will be rolling stock brakes until I can upgrade to something better and I want to see how small the stock rotors look.

With this type of wheel?. I have not been able to
update the brakes yet. Hell I just got it dropped
yesterday. 2" spacers up front with 4th gen disc
rear 'no spacers'. Here is a pic before the drop.

Are you running factory springs? Either way, an 18" wheel isn't going to be any different than a 16" 17" 15" etc. The overall height with tire is what you want to pay attention to. And if you compress the springs in there the point of not being able to run a standard size tire you're going to be dragging the kmember on the ground. The bb doesn't weight THAT much more than an iron sb. Goodluck.

You mean you pulled the rotor off the car and the races won't come out of the rotor? Set it on a bench or a piece of wood and go through from the backside with a punch and a deadblow hammer.

if your asking me, i have a 2 inch spacer up front and none in the back. I have a 4th gen rear in my car. I'm unsure of the exact size for the back on a stock rear. Use the search bar it works wonders.

Yes they are brembos, big reds off a 993 TT most likely. Same as I have on my Corvette from MovIt

3genpio, where did you get the adapter brackets?? Those calipers are radial mount, did you sue a radial to lug mount adapter?

i got basic messurements from roy borrelli but it was a bit away from real, so i make a bracket from a piece of plastic for easy drilling than i draw the diagram and have them cut from iron shop
there is plenty room in 18"

i gues i have somewhere the diagram with messurements if someone need it.

What the hell are you using that makes you think that's a reasonable size to post pictures at?

The forum software auto resizes, don't get what you are complaining about unless there's something wrong on your end the pic isn't that large at all.

No, the brakes w/ all the seperate pads are the pbr Zo6 calipers but they aren't that great. They're made in China to begin with and I've heard complaints about them.

The ones in my pic are big red 4 pot brembos, back then they were some of the biggest and best brakes out there. That's over 10 years ago.

So those are the CTSV calipers, nice! I like that, especially since they are lug mount. Radial mounts get expensive when you have to do custom brackets. Only problem, I have 17" jongbloed wheels...them thar puppies ain't gonna fit

Re: Got Vette Wheels??...Post pics here...!

I had the same dilemma zr1 or c6. i like the way the back wheels look on my car but I with the front were 18 also. I am going to get wider tires for the front nonetheless next time.
