New set of 17" wheels

Hi guys,

I know this topic has been talked about, chewed over so many times it ain't funny. But I'm getting crossed signals from different threads and websites. All I'd like to know is that will my stock, 88' iroc-z, will it fit a set of 17 x 9.5" wheels with a back spacing of 5.5", and 275/40R17 tires without any rubbing or problems. if anyone else has done this please let me know hat you did or what ya think? Any input woul dbe great and helpful. i just don't wanna use spacers that's why.

I want to use these wheels. http://www.billetspecialties.com/ite...d=251&pid=1009

Those are an easy, good fit all around. You may need to do 5 seconds of grinding, or one minute of hand filing, depending on the spindles where the tie rods attach, because of production variance, but you won't be weakening it. Mostly just casting flash.

Thanks Jamie! That's basically what I was looking to hear. Now to wait fo rtax season, that'll be my tax return gift to myself, with some sticky Conti's.

Re: New set of 17" wheels

I'm running 17" x 9", 5" bs up front & honestly? I wouldnot go any deeper on the bs up front & here's why....

It gets pretty close, between the tie rod & rim. Tie rods are one thing I'm not willing to grind on, on my car. And I do a lot of cutting on my car, but nothing very structural.

Cool, those ROH wheels don't look that bad, and there cheaper. Plus, the correct backspacing so I won't have to do any mods, even better! Thanks Stephen!

Unless you find a used set, you can't buy them in the correct 3rd gen offset anymore. Just in the 4th gen offset (which meana spacers).

In fact, I'm not sure that the Snypers are even available new anymore, in the 4th gen offset.

Snypers were only made in the "bare" aluminum finish. I had my centers & inner lip powdercoated black.

Stephen, your outer tie rod ends look slightly different than mine, maybe because your car is a newer year?

Re: New set of 17" wheels

Ok, so it looks like find ROH wheels will be next to impossible. So, I'll be going back to those Billet specialties, but I'm guessing, going with the 17 x 9.5 front and rear, front b.s. 5" and rear 5.5" ? Sound about right? Or could I get a 17" x 11" in the rear without mods? I'm running a BMR panhard relocation kit and a Edelbrock Panhard bar. With the 11's could I get a 315 in there?
