Questions for IROC Chrome Replicas Buyers
I just bought a set of 4 from Summit 16X8's for my '88 IROC Z28!
Link > http://www.summitracing.com/search/brand/American-Racing/Product-Line/American-Racing-Chrome-IROC-Replica-Wheels/?autoview=SKU
Now I need to buy new tires and will ask what popular brands you used on these beautiful rims. I'm not fond of the thin walled tires used on the 18" wheels but wondering what you guys have for the 16".
What tires can I go big without wheel well rubbing on the 16X8's I have ordered now? Currently the tire measurements read 235 60R 15 on the 15X8's. I'd like to know the tire width limitations for these 16X8 replicas that are arriving within 4 days.
I will use the 16X8 rims for Spring, Summer & Fall and revert to the regular 15X8 wheels you see in my pic below for the winter. Thanks !

Re: Questions for IROC Chrome Replicas Buyers
245/50/16 is widest, stock height tire, and the most common, but the tire selection is getting a little slim. Other than that, you can get larger diameter rear drag radials if you so desire.
Re: Questions for IROC Chrome Replicas Buyers
well i run 275s f/r w/o issue. heck theres plenty more room in rear butttttttttttttt you got 8 " rims,i know you cant properly mount 275s on 8s .you might be stuck with 255s as the widest for your rims!

Re: Questions for IROC Chrome Replicas Buyers
Just got these flawless wheels TODAY! Wow, they're bright as hell!

Still figuring out what brand tire and lug nuts with locks to compliment the chrome replicas. 245/50/16X8 on the fronts and wondering if a 255 ( which are available on Tire Rack ) would fit in the rears still. So far I narrowed it down to BF Goodrich g-Force Sport UHP Summer tires. $460 before taxes, shipping and their $55.00 Road Hazard charges for all 4 tires. What do you guys think so far? I know it's a loaded question but I'm just excited here!

Re: Questions for IROC Chrome Replicas Buyers
Stay away from the BF G-Force Sports! They ride like rocks and howl so loud you cant carry a conversation above the noise. I just ditched those for a set of Pilot Sports and like them a lot better. Otherwise, check out the Nitto 555's. I have a set of those on my IROC's 18"s (sorry) and those are nice tires too. Also, if you're shopping for tires on the web check out Discount Tire Direct. Better prices (than Tire Rack), no shipping costs, etc.
Good luck

NO shipping costs? There's gotta be a catch!
I went to Discount Tire Direct, and yes further research shows it's true.
I am sure liking the NITTO tires now...Ordered 4 Nittos

Yes 255's should work in the rear but the 245's might rub in the front.Ive got 245/50/16 at all four corners and I get some rubbing in the front when Im in reverse and turn the wheel.

Re: Questions for IROC Chrome Replicas Buyers
Here is the cost breakdown for tires:
Vehicle Information:
1988 CHEVROLET CAMARO IROC-Z
Order Date: 05/04/2010
Order Total: $482.00
Product Information:
4 Nitto NT 450 Extreme Performance P245/50R-16 96V
4 CERTIFICATES FOR REFUND OR REPLACEMENT ( I bought the warranty )
The cost breakdown for the Summit Chrome IROC Replicas 16X8:
DATE: 04/30/10
Charges for the ( 4 ) 16X8's order include the following:
Parts: $599.80
Standard delivery & handling: $12.95
Wheel charges are - $612.75
TOTAL EXPENSES: 1094.75 without chrome lugnuts, chrome valve stems and locking nuts.
Now I need to order the above mentioned preferably McGard or Gorilla and like WadeBryant said I can contact Discount Tire Direct for the recommendation. By the way these Chrome Replicas lug seats are conical at 60 degrees, so the recommendation I'll mention soon.
I feel like replacing the stock original bolts that stick out from the rotor and drum assemblies for peace of mind. Go for it?

Re: Questions for IROC Chrome Replicas Buyers
I love my G-Force sports. But my car isnt my daily driver. I dont drive it because it's quiet, practical, and gets great gas mileage so my priorities are a bit different. I like them because they hook and hold in the corners. Road noise wasnt a concern of mine and I don't notice anything over my exhaust and my car is lowered with poly bushings all around anyway so the tire isnt going to affect the ride quality much.
Nittos are a nice, though. I hope I can afford some Nittos or some more G Force Sports for my ROH's I've got waiting to go on the car.

you were probably referring to the G-Force Super Sport, which is an all season tire and is terrible from what i have heard
mine make zero noise
edit:
except for when i am trying to make them cry lol
