Had an interesting idea when looking at the 4th gen wheels on our third gen maro's.... For example, how would the gold wheels on my black IROC look with two inch spacers? Anybody tried this?
they would look exactly the same, but would stick 2" further out.... which would be past the fenders, and would trash the fenders in the front when you turn. Not to mention being illegal in most states, if not all, and look horrible.
3rd gen wheels dont need spacers, because they were built to fit on the car properly without them.
I fail to see the point?

Was just curious because of the spacers/adapters needed to put some wheels (vette) on our cars.

The point is to make the car look better. Not everyone likes their wheels sunken into the wheel wells, some like their wheels to sit flush with the fender lips. Personally I think about a 1.25" spacer would work pretty good.

For the factory 3rd gen 16" wheels, just get the factory slip-on spacer to put the back wheels on the front. Then put the front wheels on the back.
The will set the rear wheels out a bit further & put the shallow wheel lip up front & deeper wheel lip out back. Perfect fit & great looks!

Re: Spacers on factory wheels
If you're going to space them, you may as well get them widened also.

Somewhat depends on your choices of tire sizes. And assuming you roll the fender lips. Originally Posted by DBLTKE

I had my third gen wheels when i had a 4th gen rear axle and it looked like crap I just didnt have my SS wheels yet and hated it untill i got my SS wheels
I'm curious to see if having the wheels and tires out just a little bit makes the look more aggressive... I'm sure it's harder on the front bearings but in addition I wonder if the wider stance helps with tractions any.
