18x11 wheel options
I'm looking to get some different wheels for autocross and I'd like to use a 18x10 or 11" wide wheel front and rear. I'm really not that fond of corvette wheels because they are way too played out. Also because I want a good amount of dish/lip to my wheel. Pretty much all the wheels I end up liking don't come in a 5x12.65 bolt pattern. So let's hear some suggestions for what kind of wheel options are out there, and won't break the bank (<$2000).

Re: 18x11 wheel options
you can almost squeeze a set of ccw classics for that much, a hair more with no options. I think thats is, besides bmw wheels or vette wheels

CCW's are good choice for close to your budget. Another option is Boyds. Although I know they have gone through a transition of ownership recently. Not sure what their pricing is like any more. I looked at a set of PT-10's and the wheels were about $2200 IIRC.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
The welds are an awesome looking wheel and a great price. If I had a camaro and was starting from scratch I would go that route. I think they're pretty cheap on Ebay.
I'm building CCW's for mine, I picked up brand new centers second hand, and a few used shells. If you do the math they charge close to $100 for fasteners and assembly per wheel. I think I'll have a little under $1700 when I'm done. I may go with 18x11.5, but thats about as far as I care to push out the front fenders. Out back I've sectioned the rear fenders in to the frame rail so I shouldn't have any problems back there.

Another option is forgestar, I know a few people have ran them on racing corvettes, $1360+s&h from mod bargains. I looked into this, but they wanted money up front and it was around a 3 month lead time. The offset I was coming up was at the edge of what they could build and still needed a spacer, so the pad would be thicker and therefore it would be a heavier wheel than what they show. Being custom built, they can do 5x120.6 too.
The CF-5 would look good on a camaro I think. I was thinking F-14's in gold for my GTA, but they wanted more for the non-standard finish.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
I really like CCW classics but i want to do something a little different. I've seen those way too many times. Forgestar doesn't offer anything I like. Neither does Boyd Coddington. Lately I've been doing a lot of looking around. I really like the Panasport G7 C5C2. Then I found out that they are incredibly rare and have probably never been offered with a 120.65 bolt pattern, on top of that i found mint condition sets going for upwards of $10k. Yikes! Way out of my range. My all time favorite wheel is the Work Meister S1. I also really like the Fikse FM5 and CCW LM5. Again, all out my price range, unless I really start pinching my pennies and save up for quite awhile. It's this style of wheel that I'd really like to find, a nice 5 spoke 2 or 3 piece wheel that can have a huge lip. Those welds do look pretty good though.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
This is going to be really hard to find under $2k. Multi piece forged wheels are expensive for a reason.
If you are willing to go the BMW wheel route, I absolutely love these. Although they are a fake 3pc wheel they are cheap and come with big lips. No 11" option though.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
I have been considering BMW wheels too. I'm on the fence about that though. I have read that some poeple have had issues with the lug nuts coming loose over time. I will be using a fairly sticky street tire, Nitto NT05 or Falken RT615K with a lot of autocross use, so I'm not sure if I want to take that risk. Since the bolt patterns are so close I think it may be possibly to have the existing bolt circle redrilled to 120.65 depending on if there's enough thickness to the pad mooting surface. if all else fails, I'll just pick whatever used wheels that I really like and use adapters.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
After many days/weeks/months. I think I have come to a compromise. I've found a wheel that is a 5 spoke, has a deep dish, and is around $1k for the set.
The Rota P45R2/3 otherwise known as the GTR-D
I wanted to not like them at first, because they're Rota's, but I keep coming back to them. They don't offer a Chevy bolt pattern so I'd have to settle for 5x120 and have a machine shop redrill them. The only thing that I'm unsure about is that they don't offer an 11" width. I'll definitely use a 10" wide front but for the rear my options are 10" or 12". And of course the lip is wider on the 12". But right now my biggest issue is actually trying to find a vendor that sells these stateside.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
That all black wheel looks sick.
Probably not the best method but have you thought about custom adapters that can allow other bolt patterns to work on our axles? Need about 1 inch bolt on spacer or so with the outer studs moved into any pattern you want.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
The all black wheel does look awesome! The hub adapters is def an option, but I think you would lose an 1" of back spacing, thus lose some of that beautiful big lip on those wheels... a thought.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
Bingo, that's the whole reason why I don't want to resort to adapters. If I were to use a flat faced wheel I wouldn't think twice about it, I even run corvette salad shooters on my '92 GTI, but I want as much lip as humanly possible without a narrowed rear. Plus my wheel to fender clearance is going to be close, I've calculated it down to the mm. I don't have room for an extra inch of negative backspace.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
I have only found them in 5x114. I see they have made other wheels with the 5x120 pattern but not the GTR-Ds. I see they asked what bolt patterns they could make on their facebook page not long ago to see what other models they could make them for. Maybe you could call and ask for the 120.65 you need.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
They do offer it in 5x120. I've found a couple BMW's with them. Most of the vendors don't carry Rota's entire line and are usually catered to a specific make i.e. Nissan, Honda. Even Rota's website is out of date. I guess I'd be best off sending the company and email or giving them a call. I'd prefer to be able to find a vendor that already carries them though.

Re: 18x11 wheel options
They don't look so good on that BWM. However, they should look really nice in black on the camaro. My 10.5" wide with 20et fit just enough under the fender where I don't have to roll them, yet I did have to massage the inner wells a little. Do you think rolling the fenders will be enough? What did you calculate for the inner well fitment? Also //<86TA>\\ made a thread on what to do about the BMW bolt pattern issue if you want to save some $$. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/whee...t-pattern.html

Re: 18x11 wheel options
Idk how I've missed that thread, but knowing that option is out there makes me much more comfortable with choosing 5x120. I've emailed ROTA and their US distributor and apparently they don't sell that particular wheel in the US. kind of pisses me off. I still haven't found a wheel that I'm happy with that I can afford. If I have to, I'll keep saving for some Work's, SSR's, CCW's, etc. but I was hoping to have a different set of wheels this summer.
