Re: annyone fit a 10" tire and a 10"rim with 3"bs
5.5 and 6.5 are the 2 popular back spaces. 6.5 will require the removal of bumpstops and some trimming.
im running the weld rts 15x10-6.5 bs with MT 295 50/15 tires. minor trimming with a grinder. I did buy a extra set of wheels to put MT 325-50/15 drag radials on. im sure i'll have a little more trimming to do.
you can use the search feature to find more answers on BS"ing, but I dont think you'll be able to run a 3" BS

3" will not work, its not even close. the wheels will stick out from the side of the car a lot. Illegal and looks bad, not to mention perform poorly rtoo since the rear wheel opening will be slamming into the tire every time you hit a bump unless you jack the back of the car up like a monster truck.

Re: annyone fit a 10" tire and a 10"rim with 3"bs
i see alot of guys posting they have installed 15x10 wheels with a 6.5 back space.
iv seen a few pics of cars with a good size tire. one that stands out
is a shot of a camaro with 295 65 15's on the back. (good looking car)
that tire is 29.8 (30") tall and almost a 13" section width.
thats a wide tire.
now i see a post with the new weld wheels RT-S
I my self have orderd 6 dif wheels for the back of my z28. with the 6.5
and the 5.5 back space.
im down to the 15x10 (10.275 in true life)
w/ a 6.5 back space. and looking at what i would have to cute/ remove from the car. im like wow.. thats more then just a small cut.
adj panrod (just in case) check
off set LCA (to help out) check
and a few shots to show what im talking about.
this shot shows (work with me)
less the 1/4"inch or room at bumpstop at ride height

this shot below shows less then 1/2" inch to LCA (NOTE tire side wall would rub a stock LCA)

this show shows that the rim still inside/under the fender of the car. so if anything stuck out it would be the sidewall only.(under by a full 1/2"inch)
Note: IF THIS Were a 3" back space rim, it would be sticking out over 4"from fender

right now this set of shots are with a stock panrod. and have not checked the pasngr side. will update in the after noon.. just before cutting the bumpstops..
any input would be fantastic..if it sheds light..lol
and that paint is factory 20 years old!...
this shot shows just how wide the 10x15 is (over 11" side to side)

Re: annyone fit a 10" tire and a 10"rim with 3"bs
ya i know that its more than small cut ,in the end i just drill all the spot weld from the frame reinforcement(bump stop area) ,and re do it with 3/16plate with reinforcement but im still not finish .im trying to upload picture from my build but dont know how haha.and im gonna order some offset lca just to be sure that it clear because im thinking of a 28x10.5 tire but with my narrowed(2 inch each side) rear end if my mesure are right it should fit allright a 3bs rim because a stock rim is 5 bs s

Re: annyone fit a 10" tire and a 10"rim with 3"bs
i used founders rod end LCAs with the offset bushing ends.
they are 1.25 di tube. with the off set bushing ends. move the LCA's over another 3/8"inch.
if after doing this if i still dont have enof room. im going to a 9" wide rim
with a 5.5 back space.Low pad. and the 29x12.5 MT Sportsmen.
i had 28x12.5 15 ET Streets on the car..no prob for years. just the sportmen look for Frickn Big!
if i get the sportsmen on and running..the nexed tire is going to be the
295.65.15 MT Drag Raid. (cuss every body and there dog runs 275 60 15's)
i have the sportsmen tires now. has i only paid $200 for the set brand New!.. a deal i could not pass up.($230 off) i also just got a set of the new Mt
26X6 Font runner raid tire with the flame tred patrn. paid $210 for the set! that saved me over $180 off (did not need them) but a good deal i could not pass up!
the price on the weld RTS rims just went up an avrg of $30 a wheel also!

Re: annyone fit a 10" tire and a 10"rim with 3"bs
so had a tire mounted. to check it out.. this shot is befor any cutting of bump stops..Note: tire and wheel will sit another 3/4" under the car.as this shot shows. it clears the fender lip.
tire side wall keeps it from going all the way under at this point
(no mods have been done) yet.
tire is a full 13"inch wide section width
and stands a full 29 1/2" tall.
car is at stock height w/no eng tranny or driver.
have wt jacks for the back. so can set it as i like.

they are big!

when the eng /tranny and im in the car. i hoping the rear Ground Fx will have a bit more clearence.

dig the FAT BEEFY SIDEWALL!!

9 YEARS of sitting she picked up some dust and rust..on the cheap home painted rear end..lol

Re: annyone fit a 10" tire and a 10"rim with 3"bs
yes the rims are the Weld RT-S. 15x10 6.5 backspace
ill start the Cutting today.. but im thinking, ill have to go with the
15x9 with a 5.5 back space, as the tires are looking to be just to Big!
and ill start looking for new set of Ground FX panles for the rear wheel wells. to mod them to fit that size of tire.

Re: annyone fit a 10" tire and a 10"rim with 3"bs
heres the rim
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLD-71MB-510B65A/
and the tires i have on the car now.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MTT-6031/
I bought a extra set of wheels, and these are the tires i will be fitting on there
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MTT-3757R/
To put the 295's on wasnt very difficult, bumpstops and a little trimming. I did have to adjust (whack)the e-brake mount. it was rubbing the rim.
i recently bought a set of offset tubular control arms also, in preparation of mounting the 325's
I do recall 2 other members on the board that fit 325's in. Maybe theyll jump in here.
ive been waiting to mount the 325's until i get my 9" under the car. Didnt seem prudent to start cutting anything else until i had the rear set where it needs to be.

3" will not work, its not even close. the wheels will stick out from the side of the car a lot. Illegal and looks bad, not to mention perform poorly rtoo since the rear wheel opening will be slamming into the tire every time you hit a bump unless you jack the back of the car up like a monster truck.

I dont have any problems with my tires sticking out by about 3 inches from the side of the car. I even have cops comment on how mean it makes the car look.

not really the best pictures to show my spacing but car is in my garage right now and is pretty much all apart while I build the engine and clean everything. Will have to get some better pictures since this topic comes up a fair amount. my tires are 295/50R15

mine should not come out that far since the rear is narrowed
